In your opinion, why should we hide God's word in our hearts?

What are the benefits of doing this?

How do we do this?
(other than meditation/memorization)

What happens if we don't?

and for theologians...

Is the 'word' here the 'logos' or is it the 'rhema'?

is this a figurative statement that has more hidden it than is apperent at first glance, and if so, what?

Thankyou!

note 1... considering it's a bible college paper, yes, i'm implying that Gods exists...

note 2... The context here is memorization and scripture meditation etc...

note 3... i have no intentions of quoting anyone without permission or credit. i'm well aware of 'the rules'. in my college, it is suggested and depending on lecturer, required to do public survey research on opinions, to avaid becoming 'an island'.

Note 3... if you aren't a christian, or not interested in spirituality, don't both commenting to boost your points... it's a waste of my time, and frankly, it's no more than an irritation.

thanks to those who have responded out of good faith, it is appreciated.

King David was an example that we should follow.

What are the benefits of doing this?
Obedience, not sinning against God

How do we do this?
(other than meditation/memorization)
There are no other ways.

and for theologians...
Is the 'word' here the 'logos' or is it the 'rhema'?
The word used here in Psalms was in Hebrew. the Hebrew word 'imrâh utterance, speech, word. You specifically asked for the Greek counterpart which would be logos which means nearly the same...a word, uttered by a living voice, embodies a conception or idea.

It is meant to be taken literal. Hide Gods Word (in King Davids case, The Torah) in His heart, by meditating on it day and night.
So that he could be a more faithful believer in the God of Israel.

It is not merely my opinion it is Biblical fact. Psa 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
This passage also states the Beneft ( that we might not sin against God) we can do this by daily study of the Word of God and memorizing and thinking about the Word of God. Failing to do it causes us to be more prone to fall away. And on the last part of the question, it is neither rhema nor logos both of which are Greek words the Hebrew word here is H565
אמרה אמרה
'imrâh 'emrâh
im-raw', em-raw'
The second form is the feminine of H561, and meaning the same: - commandment, speech, word.So there you have it from the source. I knew my Doctorate would come in handy...LOL!

I don't know who told you that God's word ought to be hidden in our hearts. There are times, like when swine would devour what we say that we would not open up to them, but other than that, Jesus said that it would be like trying to hide a city on a hill.

What many Christians do not seem to get is that we die to ourselves and become willing to behave according to His will. When that happens, we might say all sort of things that we wouldn't normally say. Because it's Him telling us what to say. Not what we want for ourselves.

God's word is (supposed to be) found in the love we show for our brothers and sisters... If you love someone, you show it so it isn't kept in your heart...

God's 'word' is kind of like the 6 'days' that it took to create everything.... in the context of the Divine, it becomes relative but not necessarily defineable.

A research paper in which you imply that God exists?

I think you need to re-search for the truth.

We should not hide other's words and pretend that they are our own for a good grade.

The benefits are knowing that you are not lazy

We ask others to provide material for a research paper that should be our own

You get an F for plagiariam

All plagiarists should be 'rhemad' for cheating.

You're welcome
