technically yes, but they never ask if you have when you purchase a hunting license. But you really should. Visit the pa game commission web site for more information. You should really know what your doing before going out. shoot consistently so that your confident in the field when it comes time to take a shot on wild game. Be an ethical hunter! AND SAFETY FIRST!

Sorry, no idea about the law in p.a., but I have to agree with the answer above, practice is THE most important thing that you can do. Use as much time and money on this as you can afford before you go. Best of luck with the hunt.

If you are under 18 yes you need to take it.If you are over 18 just go buy one.I know this because I live in Pa and my nephue just went and took his hunters saftey course and he is 12 I asked him if there were any adults there he said that one or two but he said they were just there to be with there kids.They didnt have to take the test.I rember about 3 years ago my brother inlaw went and got a Pa hunting license he never took the saftey course.He was 30 at the time. They gave him his.I dont know if this varrys from county to county.Ill tell you what.Just go to a store that sells hunting licenses and try to buy one,see what happens.

If you are a resident of Pennsylvania and a first time Hunter, you are required to take a Hunters Safety Course beforehand, regardless of age.
You will also need a clothing item in Hunter Orange for safety reasons.

I am a resident of western, PA, and I had to take a course in order to hunt. Also, I just wear blaze orange, not camo.

JD is right. i live in PA, and no matter what age you are, you need to take it. its easy, and %95 of people pass it on their first time, and if you don't pass you just don't have common sense, is what I've heard.
