First, are you really depressed??? Or just feeling a bit sorry for yourself??

If you are really depressed, you need to see your Dr, get an accurate diagnosis and start treatment, generally with a therapist, pshychiatrist or pshycologist.

If you are just feeling sorry for yourself, you need to learn what is important to worry about and what isn't.

You are a long way from home. Why??? Can you move home?? If not, them start making where you live seem more homelike.

Your grandmother's cancer MIGHT be coming back, and it might not! And any one of us could be killed in an accident tomorrow. It is not worth worrying about somethinf we have no control of.

You have no girlfriend and no time to find one. Well who would want a relationship with such a gloomy gus anyway! Look around. the girl of your dreams may be sitting in the next row in class, or working where you work, or living next door. Smile at every girl you see (not leer, smile!) and you will start getting smiles in return and who knows where they may lead.

You go to school full time and work part time as do many others. You have no extra money to do anything? Then go for a walk in the fresh air at the local park (may meet Miss right there while you are at it!) You don't need to spend money to have fun.

You miss your dog - maybe you could find time to volunteer at the local animal shelter? (meet girls there too) Or earn extra cash being a dog walker?

Take control of your life, and stop being a victim.

First, let me tell you how sorry I am for you...it sounds like you are having a bad time...my sympathies.

Now, to answer your question; depression is complicated and comes in a variety of forms. So a general answer is hard.

I would suggest exploring options at the school you mention--since you sound like an adult, I assume you are in college. If that is true, I would approach the professionals in your school's counseling department. All services are almost always free for students, or a very, very low cost.

You need to determine how depressed you are and these are the people who can help you. Once they know the answer, then they can effectively treat it and help you move forward.

Good luck!

It sounds like you are more homesick than depressed. Being homesick caused by life was so much easier at home v/s college. You could talk to a counsler on campus, since they address this type of issue all the time.
