There are a few problems with it. First of all, you're not done growing yet and it can cause developmental damage. Second, regardless of how mature you think you are, you are not ready for the responsibility that comes with taking in an intoxicating substance. Third, you have no idea what your upper limit is and believe me, sister, it tends to sneak up on ya! I'm decidedly over 21 but even I slip up every once in a while. All it takes is once - if your judgement is even slightly impaired some seriously bad sh!t could happen to you. Not to mention the fact that young men can be pigs and you never know who is going to slip you a roofie. That has happened to me as well. I was lucky that I had my friends with me to take me home and put me to bed. Man did I feel like hell the next day. Ugh.
Anyway, my point is that no matter how grown-up you think you may be, you are still a kid. Enjoy it while it lasts because it will be over before you know it. I swear I was 13 like five minutes ago. If I were 13 again...
I'd watch "High School Musical" over and over until my parents agreed to buy me a new wardrobe if I would only stop for a few hours.
Have a slumber party - do each other's hair, paint toenails, put someone's bra in the freezer.
Go to the movies with at least 5 other girls and throw popcorn at the cute boys in front of you.
I'd develop a wicked crush on someone.
I'd take REALLY good care of my skin.
I'd tell my friends that I don't drink because it makes me lose control and that's just not cool.
Be a kid, sweetie. Good luck to you.

I drank a little at 14 & even by college standards I am a pretty wild.
Yeah I'd say that is pretty early. Even if you don't have any negative effects yet, you may already be conditioning your brain to have an abnormally high tolerance for intoxicants. Which may sound cool but keep in mind I used to have a really bad cocaine habit. Which I probably would never have tried except for the fact that by 19 i was sort of bored with alcohol. So I tried something new.
I'd say wait a while until you start drinking on any kind of routine basis. Sixteen would probably be a "normal" age to have drinks on weekends.
I can specifically remember the times I drank at 14. It sounds like it is a fairly regular thing for you. Heads up the guys who provide you with booze at 13 are hoping that a little liquor might help them sleep with you. Actually that might be something to consider no matter how old you are.
I have a sister who is 13. If she was 16 & asked me I would probably buy her beer. If I found out that she was already drinking on a routine basis I would smack her. And I have never smacked her in my life. That's how bad of an idea I think this is.
Good luck & for godsake don't ride with anyone who has been drinking (even one drink is enough to impare a highschool student).

Drinking at 13 leads to another question on Y/A I just saw which is a girl asking for help because she is lonely and pregnant at 13. The young lady doesn't even know how to spell pregnant and now she is. You shouldn't drink because: 1. you are way too young. 2. You as a teenager (just barely I might add) don't know when to stop yourself. 3. You haven't had enough life exprience to be able to make good judgements when you are drinking. Heck, Grown ups have a hard time with that last one themselves. Think about it you have a lil too much to drink at one of these parties and pass out on the couch. The next morning you wake up don't know where you are or even where your clothes are located and then low and behold a month later you are pregnant and don't even know who or how many people took advantage of you.

Yea it really is that bad. It could have some bad consequenses. Not only for your health but your limits. Why do you think you have a headache the day after? Why do you drink in the first place consider that? Hopefully you will learn to socialize without having to drink your courage or succumb to peer pressure. Good luck.

It is bad. At 13 you are still very much growing and if you drink this WILL affect your development. Think about it this way too, if you are drinking and getting a hangover at 13, what will you be doing when you are 15, 16, 17? Please, please think about cutting it down to one or two drinks a night. And think about why you are drinking, at your age, it can only be a couple of things, peer pressure or for some kind of escape or release, both reasons you need to speak to someone about it because you shouldn't need alcohol to enjoy yourself. (btw I am a 21 y.o.- not a mother, i am just concerned about your health)

Briefly, alcoholic beverages poison the body. Drinking alcohol causes changes in mood and results in lack of judgment and restraint, slurred speech, staggering, and clumsiness. Larger amounts of alcohol can produce drowsiness, stupor, and even death. Alcoholics drink so much alcohol that it damages their bodies, especially the liver and digestive tract. Alcoholics may also suffer from other diseases, such as cancer and ulcers, more frequently than people who do not use alcohol. Women who drink alcohol during pregnancy may give birth to smaller babies or babies with various defects.
There is mounting concern worldwide over the consumption of alcohol. The U.S. government estimates that 10.6 million adults are alcoholics and that one family in four is troubled by alcohol. It is a factor in half of all the nation’s traffic deaths.
Recently, a tragic milestone was reached. More Americans had been killed from alcohol-related motor vehicle accidents (1,350,000) than had been killed in all the wars America has ever fought (1,156,000).
In addition to the above-mentioned physical damage, alcoholic beverages can also cause other undesirable consequences. All too often a drunken parent abuses family members. Children come to fear rather than to respect a drinking parent. Families suffer because their income is wasted on alcoholic beverages instead of being used for food, clothing, and educational needs.
So, if you're asking me - and apparently you are posting your question here - It is that bad and worse. I have seen it destroy many of my friends' life: through medical issues, through emotional and social problems. NOT WORTH IT.

Yes, alcohol CAN be that bad for you. It is the gateway drug. Mix youth, inexperience, and alcohol and chances are sex, pregnancy, diseases, pot, crystal , trouble trouble trouble. I have met many alcoholics that started drinking at your age much the way you claim to drink. Their lives got ruined before they even realized what they lost. But, hey, its your choice. And alcohol is such a "mature and responsible" one.

aside from the obvious, that the others pointed out, and the fact you may be an alcoholic (doesn't matter how much you drink, it matters that you can't seem to stop yourself); your parents will get in serious trouble with the law, along with yourself, and the adults, in whose house you consume alcohol. it is very bad, and hopefully you check out a teen AA meeting to get a grip on reality. i am surprised your parents have not noticed, that would never fly with my kids & they respect it.

13 may be a bit young. Having a couple of drinks at the pub at age 16 never killed anyone.
