Spayed, shots up to date, no known parasites. I feed her IAMS lamb and rice formula. Great dog, but she sheds constantly all year long. No amount of brushing gets it all. Vet checked and sees no apparent reason. He offfered a drug to reduce the shedding, but I don't want to give her drugs for my own comfort. Any suggestions as to what could be causing this or how to correct?

Hate to break it to you but um... dogs shed.. year round. Unless he's losing entire patches there's nothing to worry about. It's normal. Labs and chows in particular are heavy shedders. Daily brushing is about all you can do, oh and getting used to dog hair. It's as permanent as death and taxes.

lab/chow mix equals shedding constantly. you can find a groomer in your area that offers the furminator. i have seen it do wonders to reduce shedding. it combs out the undercoat, which usually you cannot get to as easy as the groomer can. but even then i'd invest in a dyson animal vaccuum cleaner. they work great!
