It is not like you can do a double blind test where 1000 people get different dosage for a year and than check what group survived best. So how DO they know what is best for us?

Well, Iam a student studying pharmacology=means I know how we are predicting the amounts (doses) we are giving the patients.

All that will be determined from many experimental work at the pharmacology laboratory.. such as (first studying the stuctures of the substances that we are using to make the drugs, then we do the LD50 tests on them (half of the lethal dose, that would kill the patiet) this is very long experimental work and you will need to use many living organisms in order to know the maximum amount that will kill at least half of them), from here we can determine the doses of the drugs). Not only that we have to work out the half live of the drugs (the time needed for a certain drug to be cleared from the body) besides the pharmadynamics and pharmakenitics + Max AND Minimum efficacy of the substances/drugs.
So explain to you all the experimentl work and the studies that need to be conducted in order to know how do we know it is daily or weekly..... .....ext doses I need to write you a book in this page.

But that is more or less exactly what the pharma's do.

They measure the effect of different dosage loads to balance between effectiveness and potential side effects of a new drug.

Hence the recommended dose.

It may seem totally crazy because it is just that hit or miss they try a drug and dose to see what happens. What do you think all the advertisement for do you have these problem call us we'll give you the meds. and time for free and some of them even pay just for you to let them us use you as a lab rat. It's really crazy when gets all said and done.

Well i guess through Lab results of people who consented to be tested. There are stages of testing before the drug can be release to the public and even after. I guess its part of the FDA responsibility to make sure that the drug release to the public is safe.
