Celibacy is the state of being unmarried. This may or may not include abstinence.

It's like being between a rock and a hard place. The difficulties increase exponentially the longer you practice either.

Celibacy...
1) Abstinence from sexual intercourse, especially by reason of religious vows.
2) The condition of being unmarried.

Abstinence...
1) The act or practice of refraining from indulging an appetite or desire, especially for alcoholic drink or sexual intercourse.

By these definitions, I would say abstinence is more difficult.

honestly?
I say DO WHAT YOU WANT
without feeling like every third movement will be a sin.
I love my partner VERY much && while we are going to get married, after we move in together, we're also going to be together physically beforehand.
and if anyone truly has a problem with that,
they're probably repressing things within themself && decide to take it out on others. and this isnt' a stab at any religion, it's simple psychology.

Blessed be!

they are both choices that anyone making them need to really feel committed to once the choice is made to me abstinence would be harder because if you were to committed not to be married than you would not even try to have a relationship that way ( that is just my thoughts)

aren't celibacy and abstinence the same thing?

Much much easier if the one that you love, also makes an agreement with you and God to remain celibate until after your marriage.

They are the same silly! Either way,you aren't having sex!
I would say being faithful to a mate is easier than just staying celebate.
God commands us to have our own husband or wife if we cannot stay pure, because it is better to be married than to burn!

I suppose there are plenty of diseased people suffering HIV ,hepatitis , herpes or other commutable diseases that have learned to abstain.
