My den is white right now but I plan to update it. I will have a "forest" green couch with a light beige trim. There is an oak fireplace and an oak table and chairs (I basically live downstairs so I put an old kitchen table in here so I could eat down here as well) and a papasan chair with a dark brown wood base and the cushion is gold. I have no idea what color to paint the walls in here so any help would be appreciated.

I like the look of old traditional Dens or Libraries. A deep rich color green or maroon would accent the oak nicely. Everything else in the room sounds wonderful.

I would choose a soft, buttery shade of yellow. Be careful, though. Yellow, more than any other color, INTENSIFIES once it is on the walls. Another color that may work is very light sage green. If you aren't too daring, go with a sand color. Good luck.
