and still trust God? Here is a poem I wrote about hope and healing for those times.

I BELIEVE YOU, GOD

Though I cannot see you, I know that you are there.
You care for me so carefully, and relieve all my despair.
From the moment I awake till the setting of the sun,
You protect me and love me beyond others, seen have done.
My parents, friends and others just go about their days,
so busy, oh so busy doing what they may...
That's why no one noticed or took the time to pray,
for a sick and lonely girl, who was a burden in their way.
She was despised and forsaken and cast out of the door,
no longer had a family and was vulnerable and poor.
no one was able to help or willing you might say,
a girl who didn't seem as good as others in some way.
And so, for this she cried and to the streets she stayed,
she was frightened and afflicted and terribly dismayed.
When all had seemed to go from very bad to worse,
Someone reached out to help and didn't judge or curse.

These angels of which I speak, were very simply clothed,
The nuns of Saint Mary Magdalane's, Jesus' betrothed.
They cared for me and loved me, and helped me heal a bit,
I wasn't as so frightened, and I was no longer hit.
Yes, the sick girl was me although no more despised,
no more abused, judged or hated, healing no more denied.
Jesus, you came and healed me, and helped me on my way,
You showed me you are with me by night and every day.
In sickness and in health, my trust you'll not betray,
You preserve my life and teach me to trust you and obey.
Though I cannot see you, and though I am so poor,
Your leading me back home, and opening your door.
I never have a worry now and never have a care,
because no matter where I go, I know that you are there.
And when it comes to pass, that I leave the earth behind,
I know I'll then see You, not those who were unkind.

Idahomike3... I understand, the "church" is actually considered the "bride of christ" in the non-catholic circles, and not nuns. I'm not saying that's wrong at all what others think, It's just that Catholic nuns are considered the "brides of Christ" in Catholic belief and I wanted to bring that out in my poem.

btw, i'm not Catholic

This poem is to illustrate how loving and how REAL God is. (Don't worry, it's not about unforgiveness I love and forgive everyone involved). The poem is to God and for God, I just thought others may be encouraged or inspired by it... that's why I wanted to share it with you.

This poem should win an award
It is so beautiful it touches you deep down inside
I cry for you, I send the love of God and the peace of God to you
May all your days be filled with joy and may the sun shine upon all your ways may you be blessed above measure and may you feel the hand of God holding your hand
I have had many sorrows and a lot of pain in this life
In the valley he restores your soul
It is in the valley that you find peace and are refreshed

This was always one of my favorite songs when going through all the tough times in life, the road does get easier and the stronger you become the less it hurts

† HE RESTORETH MY SOUL †

1
WHEN I'M LOW IN SPIRIT I CRY LORD LIFT ME UP
I WANT TO GO HIGHER WITH THEE
BUT THE LORD KNOWS I CAN'T LIVE ON THE MOUNTAIN
AND SO HE PICKED OUT A VALLEY FOR ME

CHORUS
HE LEADS ME BESIDE STILL WATERS
HE LEADS ME BESIDE STILL WATERS STILL WATERS
SOMEWHERE IN THE VALLEY BELOW
HE DRAWS ME ASIDE TO BE TESTED AND TRIED
BUT IN THE VALLEY HE RESTORETH MY SOUL

II
IT'S DARK AS THE DUNGEON AND THE SUN SELDOM SHINES
AND I QUESTION LORD WHY MUST THIS BE
THEN HE TELLS ME THERE'S STRENGTH IN MY SORROW
AND THERE'S VICTORY IN TRIALS FOR ME

(ENDING)
HE DRAWS ME ASIDE TO BE TESTED AND TRIED
BUT IN THE VALLEY IN THE VALLEY
IN THE VALLEY IN THE VALLEY
IN THE VALLEY HE RESTORETH MY SOUL

Evesshield, I'm sure your poem will speak to those who feel abandoned, lonely and lost...even ppl with good and caring family members have times when they feel abandoned because sometimes only Jesus can fill the lonely place..only Jesus can heal and strengthen a broken heart...
It's clear to see your poem has come from a beautiful heart..and I'm sure your words will heal and encourage many....
As for myself, i have had difficulties, not any more difficult than any one else..and yes through God's grace i'm keeping my faith...
God Bless You.... : )

Sun will shine again: Thanks for posting the valley poem..my experience of the valley season has been an enriching, and strengthening one..
God Bless

Jesus was not "betrothed" to any one.

My life was a mess when I finally came to God... that was 7yrs ago... my mortal existence is worse off now than on the day of my Salvation... My fault... not God's... would I go back to being a non-Christian? even if it were passable.... no way... Even the worst of times with God are so far above the best of the world... God will never abandon me and I will never turn from Him.

Dear sister friend.
When one has no one and knows the streets as we, courage brings love.
Jesus was courage with love.
I will tell you a story of a best friend of mine. He came from a broken home and lived with me his Jr. & Sr. years of Hi. school.
He went on his own to L.A. and got mixed up with bad company. He was hit on the head with a hammer and robbed.
It did brain damage and parolised his left side.
For three years he laid on the streets with a caved in scull. No one would help him. After three years of total dispair California saw fit to put in a plate in his scull. He had a dog that would retreive aluminum cans for him as he rode his bicycle with basket in front.(his one side never worked again)
His world to this day (35 years latter) is just him and his dog,and an old lady he takes care of.
He is a very posative and likeable person.
When people wine and cry about nothing, I think of him and his unreal courage. Street people know of these things and in reality are the most couragous and loving people there is.
Chin up couragous person, as your helping hand has courage and love. Your choice to follow Christ is wise indeed.

I've had some horible things happen to me just because of my naive childlike faith in the magic god of confused thinking but you may never have to deal with the brute facts of reality as I did in my youth . faith can be a serious problem for those who need to have their wits about them in the real world aside from the ivory towers of lip service and such.

I feel for you. my heart goes out to you. Sorry you had to go through a lot. If people do not help, it's because in this day and age, where there is so much crime, and sickness, that
people shun away from helping others, have understanding,
forgive their shortsightedness. I know you must have a good heart. We all need to learn to forgive ourselves, and learn to forgive others, May Love dwell in you.

About 4 years ago my husband asked me for a divorce.....I was devastated...the only comfort was from god he was the only place for me..
after work i would go to my room and read the Psalms and cry.

I knew that I had only god and that he would be faithful......After much work and Christian counseling, my marriage is better than it has ever been...Praise the Lord and I thank him every day.

Nope. I had a pretty easy childhood, and that was the closest I ever was to a belief in god - when I was attending a Christian school.

I never had that problem back when I believed in God and thought I was "close to him." I did become an atheist later in my life but the decision was based on logic and epistemological concerns rather than emotional reasons, (like bad things happening)

...and by the way, there's actually a dedicated section for poetry in case you didn't know.
