Hey, I just accepted a job offer the other day at a yacht club in the boat yard section doing maintance. I told my new boss that ill be able to start after I give a 1 week notice to my current employer I only work part time right now but my new job is full time. Anyways I'm a bit confused on things such as what to wear on the job and exactly what the job is, my question is tomorrow I have nothing to do so do you think it would be ok to go down to the yacht club and look around and talk to my new co workers and my new boss?

Absolutely, I recommend one of two methods:

Option 1: Call ahead and say something like, "I'd like to get a feel for this job. Would it be all right if I spent a day shadowing you/a current employee?" Most bosses would be glad that you've taken the initiative; HOWEVER, if your job offers a training program, a call-ahead visit may not be necessary.

Option 2: Don't call ahead, just show up as a customer and watch what goes on. This can be handy as far as getting a feel for the clientele, and also for watching how current employees do their jobs. On the downside, this method can cost you some money, and since it's a yacht club, you may not be able to pull this off. Oh, and if your new boss sees you there, you can just tell him/her that you're there to get a feel for the job. S/He'll understand :)

Good luck, and congrats on the new job!

Call ahead of time so that they know that you are coming.
