Is it true that if you have sex before you're married you can go to church anymore?

I was LDS, though I am no longer active.

It is not true at all! Everyone is welcome to attend Sacrament Meeting at any time.

Of course you can attend church, but is a sin that you must repent of and try your best not to let it happen again. I know that I am in a relationship with a guy (we are both LDS, I am a recent convert) we are planning on getting married and such, but before I was baptized we made that mistake. We had to talk with the Bishop about it and we have talks with him every few months just to see how we are doing, but no one said we had to stop attending church. Matter of fact, we are both ward missionaries.

If you are Temple-Endowed, you may be excommunicated, especially for repeated offenses.

If you have never been to the Temple, you will be either disfellowshipped (can't pray in meetings, take sacrament or give talks) or placed on probation (can't take sacrament), depending on the gravity of the situation and whether it was heterosexual or homosexual sex.

In any of the above cases, you will still be allowed to attend church as long as you don't undermine the authority of the presiding authorities or try to discredit the Church.

I just wanted to address one of the answers you got

Black Death: People aren't that judgmental, at least adults aren't. I sometimes help pass the sacrament when there aren't enough young men, and I notice on occasion some people that do not take the sacrament. I don't judge them. When I sit back down I usually pray for them that they can overcome whatever trials they are facing.

OF COURSE WE CAN GO TO CHURCH!!!! I don't know where you got that idea from. I personally have just traveled the road of repentance gaining God's forgiveness for committing this sin. And I was welcomed with open arms no matter what.

No that's not true at all.

Anyone at all can go to church (unless they are disruptive... ie disturbing the peace, being violent or yelling, etc).

Sex before marriage is a sin that requires repentance before being allowed to TEACH in the church, but anyone at all is welcome to come and learn.

No. Church is for perfecting ppl not perfect ppl. But I do believe it is a sacred act that was given us as a gift from God so that we can show our love to our spouse and to make babies. That being said it is better to do it within the bonds of matrimony.

Of course you can still go..No one will know about your private bedroom practices unless you announce it to the whole congregation.

Now if you want a temple recommend that is another matter....

The only people who I think would not be welcome in our worship services, are those who intend to cause problems or something.

Many LDS people who have not been thru the temple but have had sexual relations before marriage may be disfellowshipped rather than ex'd, but ALL are still MORE than welcome to our worship services.

Look into what a "Jack Mormon" is. From what I know, Jacks can still sin terribly, but as long as they tithe, they are still ok. Maybe this has changed since 1999?
