How much would you pay to reduce political phone calls?

Nothing.
Usually a polite, "I'm not interested. Thank you for calling." does the trick. Asking them to remove you from thier list is helpful as well.
If not, just hang up, be rude, or let the answering machine/service handle it.

I just wish that to make an unsolicited call your home number should be required to be shown on the caller ID of the poor recipient.

they are exempt from the do not call registry. that was in the bill when fisrt passed. ever hear this before, special interest.
