Temporary straightening can be well done with a flat iron, but has to be redone daily (usually) so it shouldn't be your usual style. The repeated heatings can fry your hair.

a permanent straightener is a chemical product and should never be done at home. It takes a lot of learning to do those correctly.

A professional hairdresser can help you find the right style, without either temporary or permanent straightening products, or with a mix of them all.

My recommendations: hair product -Nexus, found in salons; flat iron -True Ceramic Pro, found at officialseeontv.com. It is expensive, but preserves the condition of your hair, better than the other brands, and holds longer.
