Why do some blacks covert to Islam?

What is the attraction?

Probably the same reason as why white people convert to Islam.


And the same reason why white, black, Arab and Asian people convert to Christianity.



Let's hope that they all come to their senses and become athiests and agnostics.

the same reason some whites (Sheikh Hamza Yusuf, Yusuf Estes) and some hispanics (there is a National Society of Latin American Muslims in DC) and many others convert to Islam. It is not a thing particular to the black community.

However, El-Hajj El Malik Shabazz (Malcolm X) and the Nation of Islam (different than traditional Islam) played a big role in the civil rights movement.... which may make some African Americans more comfortable with Islam... and more likely to here Islam's message. A pole done it 2004 stated that African-American's were less likely to have negative feelings towards Muslims. Also, there are many prominent black figures in Islam's history (Bilal, the Prophet's adopted son, Zaid)

However, it is still important to note that conversion to Islam is not unique to the African-American community.

Some blacks convert their religion to Islam because
1)Islam treats all of its followers the same not make a diffrence among the skin color white,red,black and brown
2)Islam has no racism in the eyes of God all people are the same,the difference lies on their devotion good doings or bad doings
3)Islam gives more respect to women or female
4)Islam gives free choice to all of its followers whether they obeyed or disobeyed the life guide as stated in the holy Qur'an with its consequencies
5)Islam is against with slavery
6)Islam is a peaceful religion which gives the same rights and obligations to all of its followers
7)Islam teaches a good and fair democracy in the family,in the community and society.

Correction: The Nation Of Islam (NOI) is not an islamic group, they simply use a few islamic principles and run away with it. I can't say why "some" black men join Islam; but it is a religion of collective appeal to anyone who has good thinking skills. It is the one religion where there is no space reserved for a king. It is the religion where the prince and the pauper, black white, asian, european, indian and all muslims literally stand shoulder to shoulder in adoration of their Creator. There is no other religion like it. And yes, surely muslims believe in Jesus. We also worship the same God that Jesus always prayed to. As Salaamu Alaikum

Because the Nation of Islam was founded in the ghettos of Detroit as a religion for blacks and not whites. Read the chapter called Tricknology in the book Middlesex.

Anyways, now that the Nation of Islam is kind of defunct, blacks now go to regular Islam. The Nation of Islam was almost a completely different religion.

Islam attracts many people in lower socio-economic stata. That is why prisons convert so many people to Islam. They find peace in Islam. Some find a "green light" for their violent tendencies (go and fight and kill for Allah). Others see it as a way out of gangs and drugs and hope for a better future. I think others see acceptance there where they might see hypocrisy in Judaism, Christianity etc.
Most people seem to say simply, they found peace in Islam.

The carnal mind sees it as strong, because of the violence and hard line stuff they sell. Unaware that the freedom black Americans receive came off the backs of Christian believers, who faced bondage and stood the line for Christ. So, in essence, their forefathers are shaking their heads at them.

It is prejudice that leads them this way. Many people the world over dislike Jews, but has it kept them from bowing the knee to the Jesus of the bible?

The carnal, spiritually stunted mind sees Jesus and assumes He is only a white Jewish man. He far more than just white...and far more than just one kind of man...far more than just being a man. Christ has ascended and is God.

So in summation, like every other color and type of people, there are some that get it...while the rest run around in circles down here, before they are sent to hell...for toying around with the Living God.

the better question is, why are there more blacks converting in prison than out of prison.

i spent four years as a prison guard. in that time i only seen four white Islamics, and a countless number of African Americans.

The main attraction is the fact that the Islamic religion provides security and safety in side the prison system. I have no idea what it provides out side the prison system.

maximum black converts to Islam are prisoners, or contributors of the country of Islam.I even have observed that extremely some black Muslims do no longer probably seem to love White those that lots.i do no longer understand why some black human beings convert to Islam.

I think there is a mistaken notion on the part of many blacks that Christianity is a white man's religion. Which is wrong. Some claim Jesus was black which may be true because he had black ancestors.
