My friend started going out with a girl a few months back, both are good friends of mine. Recently they just broke up, because the girl's parents didn't like him. The problem is, they never met him before, and barely know him. There are also a lot of misunderstandings, when the girl tried to tell her parents. They both really love each other, but now they are forbidden to see each other. The parents don't even want to see they guy. I really want to help the two, and I feel that I have to, I just don;t know where to start. If anyone could give advice, that would be greatly appreciated.

They both are 17, high school. And the guy isnt really a bad guy, he's a straight a student, taking honors and ap classes, plus he's one of the nicest guys i know. Apparently the parents scared the girl into breaking up, and now they think she doesn't like him anymore, which she does.

Sounds like the girl has built up a problem at home maybe lieing to her mom and dad. Guys should always think about metting the girls parents before dating her or there will be a problem if and the parents will wornder what is being hidden.
Parents do not like to be lied to or have stuff hidden from them it really pisses them off bad.

Since you said you are a friend to both of them - then have you met her parents? If yes, then maybe you could ask them what it was they didn't like about him. Is the girl using her parents as the excuse for the break up or did they really say that? What age range are we talking here?

There's not really much you can do as a friend except be a friend. Sounds like a Romeo and Juliet tale. No one is planning suicide are they? But to be serious, if their love is strong, they'll find a way to be together. They're only a few months away from being legal adults. Tell them to play it low and slow until then.

You shouldn't get involved its there problem. If the parents don't like him they may see things differently than you. I was told by my parents not to see a boy and I didn't listen . I married that man and got divorced . My parents were right. I am so sorry that I didn't listen to them. I was young and stupid and thought that love was al l you needed. But there's a lot more to it.

Helping them is beyond your ability to effect a change of any sort. Besides, negotiating adversity (particularly for someone you love or something you believe in strongly) is a test of character; we often discover just how important something or someone is to us by how much we're willing to endure to keep them in our lives. That's a personal challenge they'll either succeed or fail on their own...and ultimately that's how it should be. Cheer them on from the sidelines, for sure, but let them shape their own destiny. I've been the child and I've been the parent...it's all a rite of passage.

I think that the parents are just protecting their kid. She is still young and I'm sure that the parents do not have anything against your friend. Just tell your friend to continue being his best and prove to the girl's parents that he's worthy of their trust.
