ok so i've had this condition for over two years now but its starting getting worse, i've recently been tested for costochondritis and was negative, i had a CAT scan on my chest with no results and we can't figure out what it may be. its difficult to explain but its in my chest and in my sternum i will at times also feel pain in my lower ribs or through my clavicle and areas of my back i figure it hurts in those areas from the pain traveling through a nerve, but when it hurts it feels like i'm being stabbed and at times i cant even breath without it hurting, so far as that i have to force myself to stay tense because it feels like my chest is about to cave in when i breathe out. it hurts a lot in my area around my heart but it hurts all over, it comes if i do a lot of activity, but i have had times when i do physical work and it doesnt hurt at all until i'm relaxing, it even hits me while i'm sleeping. no one knows what this could be, any ideas anyone? i'm scared it could be fatal...

Have they done an endoscopy and checked for polyps, or tested you for any types of cancers. I hate to say it, but there are many types that can cause all kinds of problems. My mother in law was just diagnosed with Lymphoma a couple of days ago after having a nasty cough for several years...The doctor just kept treating her for asthma, and allergies.

I'm not trying to be funny here but it actually sounds like you have intestinal gas blockage.It can hurt in your rib area,chest,back,shoulders,etc.
