I've only seen kitten trays and the standard litter box tray. But I know what you mean, some are really energetic diggers.

Your best bet is a covered litter box, but the problems with those are that you have to keep them VERY clean or the smell build up inside will put the cat off using it. Those 'filters' with charcoal in the top don't do anything to eliminate the odor for the cat, there's still smell coming up from used litter and the cat has to go into a contained space to poop and pee, and if it's strong enough they'll go outside the box.

Also, if you have two or more cats, one usually finds it 'fun' to ambush cats coming out of the box, giving even more incentive to cats to go outside the box to avoid this.

You can put paper down around the box and keep a broom handy for clean up. That's what I do.

You could try a larger box if they come any larger than the you already have. If you don't have a cover for the box, I suggest you get one. While you are at it get a boot matt for under the cat box
That's what we used. It won't be 100% but it catches a lot of sand. The boot matt has to be large enough but not huge.

Lets face it, some cats throw the dirt like yours and others don't. That's just the way it is. No matter what, sweeping comes along with the territory.

Try a large litter box or increasing the size of your current liter box about an inch. Your cat just does digs to cover his own feces and urine natrually. It is just the cats instinct to do this because it does not want to get its sleeping place dirty. Trust me I am a animal care attendent who works with cats right now.

ya, get a cover for your box. I have 3 cats and......oops, i wasn't suppose to say that. so ya, i have 3 cats and all of our boxes have covers to prevent the cats of spraying all the sand and stuff all over the place.

The size doesn't really matter, but you need to get a box with high walls, or you can try a covered litter box.

She's right Robert, they just like scratching and throwing the sand around.

Get a covered litterbox. It prevents most of it from being thrown out.
