Do not quit your job without having another one. You are in an especially vulnerable position because that job and the experience you are gaining from it are the only thing that makes you marketable to another employer. Perhaps you can go to night school to get your mind off your work - or if you work nights, go to day school. Get yourself some technical college experience in a field that is in demand. These days, a two year technical degree is more marketable than a 4 year degree. Many of the youth of of America are picking incredibly useless degrees like Art, History, Sports Medicine, etc....don't go that route. Pick something that you know you find a job in and go back to school!
Just don't quit your job. If school is not for you, then find another job and then quit. Don't quit until you have one.

Mid life crisis at the age of 21?
Hm.
I don't think I'm really qualified to give you a solid answer, because I'm much younger than you, but here come what I learned from daytime television.
Get a simpleton job, such as cashier at a supermarket or maybe work at McDonalds- anything that can get you through- while attending night school.
If you need money, bother the parents, get loans, or have blatant disregard for the rent.
I hope that did it.
Best of luck out there!

Look into taking part time continuing education courses at college at the very least. You seem to be smart enough to handle doing both working and learning.
If you are so certain that you might walk off the job, then put in your two weeks notice now. It is important that you leave a good impression in this workplace. It is not often that someone at your age has gotten this many years in with one employer. This is an excellent reference to have on your resume.

I have a friend who has a senior managment position at a fortune 100 company [great benefits all the way around]...one day he goes into his boss office and quits on the spot...
I ask him why and he tells me "i was getting too comfortable, there was no sense of urgency"
the point is this, while your loyalty to your job should be commended, you should look for that next opportunity to help you and yours...why else do we work?
if you're an assistant manager, start applying for managerial positions, if ur a manger apply for regional director positions, if ur regional start applying for VP stuff...
how far you want to go is completely dependent on you...if that company wont give you an opportunity find someone that will...

You're wise at such a young age to realize your current job, once fun at 16, is getting you nowhere fast at 21. This is a promising sign of ambition and maturity that harnessed well, can guide you on to better career rewards when you do find the job that suits you and is one you love doing.
If you find such a career and it's one that a college education can expand greater salary and promotional opportunities, then run--don't walk--into college and pursue the necessary degree(s).
Whatever work you find yourself in, look 5 to 10 years ahead and give yourself a real picture of where you feel you'll be then.

hey...if you've had this job for more than 5 years, there is now where to go but up! I would quit so you can concentrate on looking for a better job. If this current job you have now you got when you werre 16, justthink of how good of a job you can get now after college and at 21! I would go for a new job since you figure the job you have now is not going to change and major way...go for it and make a move...good luck carreeer searching!!!!
