I would say that there is a "cold war" in space. China has recently developed a weapon that can shoot down satellites. That is huge to america, because we rely on satellites for everything from cellphones, to bank transfers. And the military utilizes satellites more then anything such as spying, gps guided weaponry, communications, UAV data links, you name it. Without our satellites the US can come to a screeching halt fast. In addition many other rogue nations are aggresively looking for ways to station weapons in space. Having weapons in space will be more effective being launched from space, nations would have little or no warning, because there radar is focused outwards not whats coming down from space. So yes there is a degree of conflict in space, but obviously not full blown war....yet.

I would say there is. Many countries like China and America are wanting do put defensive weapons in space to stop missles and stuff. If this happened, the weapons could be used on destroying countries. The war is to stop these weapons getting into space.

No, but read the book "Alien Agenda". The author claims there are UFOs about 600 miles above our atmosphere from an advanced civilization in another galaxy waiting for us to start blowing ourselves to smithereens. When they start seeing nukes exploding all over the globe, they will swoop down and take over. Couldn't happen soon enough if you ask me!! -RKO- 08/19/07

China just successfully experimented with a satellite killer on one of their old orbiting pieces of scrap. So yes, DOD is worried.
