I got glasses when I was 11 years old. It's okay to have bad vision. Your bad vision may have just been caused by your genetics. If you're really concerned about how bad your vision is you should talk to your optometrist about it. You can always wear contacts if the idea of glasses brothers you so much.

I am not a doctor, but I will share what I know. Having 20/15 vision simply means that when something is 20 ft away it is as easily visible as something 15 ft away. The headaches are most likely from eye strain, and has nothing to do with having 20/15 vision. As far as glasses are concerned, I have 20/20 vision and was prescribed light reading glasses for my eye strain. Make sure to dim your computer setting and possibly increase viewing size, as this will decrease chances of it causing a headache, and always read books and such in a well lighted area. Be advised however, that those kind of headaches could be the symptom of other problems, and it would be wise to ask a professional.

You didn't specify what condition you have, but there are numerous reasons why you can't see good. Most conditions are primary inherited and developed later in life due to a bad lifestyle. Noone can tell you for certain why you have bad vision.

You shouldn't worry much about glasses. You can wear contacts instead and when you become old enough you can consider laser eye surgery. There are also eye exercises that can help with eye conditions that require corrective glasses. For more information about eye exercises go here:

My son had to get glasses when he was in 4th grade---so did my brother. They both say it was the greatest high they've ever been on when they put on those glasses and could see the calender on the wall and the pictures on the piano---and the baseball coming their way. I've known some people that actually wear glasses just so they look smarter. They have very cool frames these days. It's not the end of the world to be able to see. You can have surgery later---or would you rather not see what's going on?

I wear contacts (I'm 16) and people say I'm generally a good looking person. I was feeling exactly the same as you when I heard how bad my vision was. I wear glasses sometimes, and believe me, it does not make a difference. Nobody has treated me any differently for it, and I look the same (if not better). Some of the prettiest girls I know wear glasses. And when it comes down to it, it's the inside that counts right?

Like others, I would add that I usually find girls in glasses a real turnon (but, hey, I'm just a guy, what would I know), since it suggests they are brainy. But if your self-image is based on a model of shallower proportions, this might not work for you.
I've seen some real progress using "bates" techniques (i.e., Janet Goodrich, etc.), so if you're up for a challenge, I recommend reading these sorts of books. Good luck.

No one can fully put to one exclusive answer the reason your eyesight is bad. But all hope is not lost. You could look into the option of laser eysight correction surgery, invented by Dr. Stephen Brint, a pioneer and brilliant doctor in eye surgery and care.

If you qualify, after a thorough eye exam, you'll find the surgery is fast, safe, painless.....and expensive. Worth it though, if your vanity....and wallet both can afford it.

Glasses are pretty on girls. Boys like that look. I hear guys say, "She looks hot in those glasses."

You have no idea how many heads you can turn if you are already pretty and then add to it with a pretty pair of glasses!
