The story is about a pig the farmer brought the pig into the house, He gave it a bath, polished his hoofs, and put prefume on him, put a ribbon around his neck, and put him in the living room. The pig looked fine. He almost seemed to be acceptable to society and to frineds that might come in, he was so frest and clean. He mad a very nice and companionable pet for a few minutes. But as soon as the door was opened the pig left the living room and jumped in a mud hole. Why? She would ask me. I would like to hear you answers, then when I pick I will tell you what she told me.

MY grandmother said it was because you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
I am interested in knowing what your grandmother said.

Because it was too warm in the house, with that restrictive scarf on. Pigs are quite intelligent, and know that water is great for cooling off. However, no wading pool was available; the best the pig could find was the mud hole.
Oh well: better dirty than roasted.

Clean the outside all you want - pretty it up with ribbons and perfume - and hide the truth under finery and you have - a pig. Unless the inside changes, unless the "pig" wants to make the change - going back to the old ways is a sure thing - count on it.
The only way we can change is from the inside out.

True change happens on the inside not just the outside. Pig was still a pig.

There's an armadillo living right outside my place here, and at night, he rolls around in a little wet spot in the lawn, creating an unsightly mud slick. They do it because the mud keeps them cool, even after it dries. Maybe pigs do it for the same reason. Thanks for asking a pig question!

because a pig is a pig and does what a pig does just as we are all sinners and will sin because it is our nature to do so.......you can put on aires that we humans are better than the pig but in reality we are just all as the pig. We all wear masks of some sorts. Only our Heavenly Father knows what lies beneath our masks because He is our Creator and loves us for what we are.......

Because you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear..... in other words.... that's what pigs do. You can wash them, dress them and expect them to be like people, but they are pigs, and pigs LOVE to roll in a mud hole.

Because a pig is a creature of habit, and only a human can tell the difference.

Why? Because the pig is still a pig no matter how you dress him up. He is still a pig and will act like one.

Pigs do not search out mud or filth to wallow in when left to their own devices. I have lived in close proximity to both domesticated and wild. I know whereof I speak.

Because all she did was fix the outside up, underneath all that the pig was still a pig... she can't change that...
