Whenever I give my cats and kittens back rubs, they seem to turn their bodies around and lift thier tail and put their a$$ in my face. I can't stand that! What's up with that??

Kittens do that so mom will clean their butts, it's natural. You're doing the job of 'mom' when you feed them, so they grant you the same priveledge.
To a cat, butts are awsome! To us primates they're sorta gross, but hey, you live with cats, you have to see it from a cat's point of view. They're complimenting you as an honorary cat.

Cats do this because they love you! You should be honored to have your kitty put its butt in your face, ha. :o) They do it because they want their scent to be on you so they can claim you. Sort of the way that some "unfixed" cats spray to mark their territory.
Don't punish your cat for doing this because your kitty is actually trying to be nice and shouldn't be tapped on the nose for it.

A cat should not do that. Simple solution. Train your cat! Everytime it does this say NO and tap it's nose with 2 fingers.

they are like dogs in the respect that they smell each other's butts. if they are being friendly to you, they expect you to do it. i usually just scratch mine behind the tail and she'll sit down and quit.

They are marking you with their scent. They have scent glands on their cheeks, paws, and booty!
