My girlfriend just gave my partner and I two kittens and she swears one is female and the other male but I think both are female because they both have eight nipples on the chest. I'm not a kittie expert and would like to know how I can tell a male from a female kitten? Thanks for your help!

All cats have nipples. A male kitten will have a small area of skin that sticks out but it's still covered in fur. A female has a hole under the butt.

Both male and female cats have nipples-
It can be difficult to tell the difference in male and female kittens. They are sometimes described as the male looking like a : (colon) and the female looking like an upside down exclamation mark.
Usually there is a bigger space between the anus and genital area in a male kitten - the space where the testicles will grow. It may be possible to feel small testicles in male kittens. It gets tricky if a male has undecended testicles though which is fairly common.
If you still aren't certain ask your vet when you see him/her for routine health check, and vaccines.

All cats have those nipples.
If you are mature enough, look between their legs, almost in the back towards their tails. If you don't really see anything besides a well...hole...then it is a girl. A male cat will have 2 testis and you can usually see those when the cat walks, and you look at their behind.
Better yet, just look for nothing at all on one of the cats and atleast you will know that one is the girl. If there are no signs of male genitals then put a collar on her so you can tell them apart without having to check every single time.

Jessica, I have a cat and it is a she. The boy cats have little testicles on the back of their butts. I don't know if it is too early to tell or not. The females do have the breast or nipples so you may be right with knowing that you have two girl cats. Have fun with the little kitties.

Well, even in humans men do have nipples, so that's nothing to go by to determine sex.
Kittens when young are almost impossible to sex till they get bigger. Then you can tell the difference between by looking under the tail If there's a vertical two dots (anus and penis) it's a boy, if it's a dot and a dash (anus and vagina) it's a girl.

Females and males have nipples. A girl has a hole with a slit close to the hole. A boy has two holes but they are far apart.
p.s This is under the tail.
