I know what you mean. Like another person mentioned, I haven't been able to bring myself to watch Passion of the Christ because I can't imagine how much more difficult that would make it for me. I remember seeing a very short clip from the movie in church once and I cried for the rest of the service.
Perhaps extreme gratitude is somehow linked to great sadness...perhaps through the concept of humility. Interesting you should mention Lincoln...I also feel gratitude for his willingness to put himself in danger for what he believed in and sadness that he was forced to pay the price for his convictions with his life.

Yes it is a sad and happy thing all at once. I have this movie called "The Testaments of one fold and one shepard" its all about Jesus from his birth, thru his ministry, his crucfixion and resurection and I cry everytime I watch it!!! But I love to watch it. Its such a good movie and it helps remind me how much God loves me and how much Jesus loves me. You should watch it!!! And try not to feel to bad because Jesus did what he did to serve you and me and all the other ppl on this earth.

It bothers me a lot too.
I remember when the Passion of the Christ movie came out. I didn't want to see it. Sort of like taping your children being born. It is beautiful but painful to watch.

still that is why He came
we can't come to the Father any other way than by the sacrifice of the Son
Whatever brings us to our knees is a good thing
no where else to go but up

I feel the same. I feel sad/guilty that I essentially cuased the death of Jesus. But very grateful and happy at the same time because he did, and now I can go to Heaven. I think that God is happy that you understand and appreciate his gift.

Yes, I feel sadly responsible for Jesus' suffering because it was my sin that put him there.

Jesus didn't exist, he's just symbol stolen from Pagan religions...PLEASE look it up, take a few hours to do some research, you'll find out the truth.

Yeah it was more suicide than anything right. If he is god then he decided he had to die on the cross. If your god really were all powerfull it could just as easily ended "And jesus had ice cream for our sins and got alittle brain freeze." So yeah I don't feel sorry at all and wouldn't even if I thought it was real.

It is sad that people could be so cruel, but rememeber, Jesus willingly chose to go to the cross to pay for our sins...he willingly submitted to the Father's will.
"Therefore does my Father love me because I LAY DOWN MY LIFE , that I may take it up again. NO MAN TAKES IT FROM ME, BUT I LAY IT DOWN OF MYSELF..." -- Jesus ..(Jn. 10:17)

There's no reason to feel the way you do since Jesus is a fictional character.
