A brand so rooted in habit that it´s now part of what one expects to see in the street and in the people´s speech? Could another brand compete if it started... let´s say... today in some remote corner of the world? What would it need to successfully replace the "jesus top of mind" for the world´s consumers? Should it prepare its market the way McDonalds does with the kids, thinking that they´ll be tomorrow´s customers?

Hey, Isn´t that what religion does already? Hasn´t the catholic church invented McDonald´s marketing techniques?

Modern advertising techniques are indeed based on tried and proved religious marketing strategies (especially Christian). Here are a few principals...

-- the more popular something is, the easier it is to sell, regardless of quality (so set up as many churches as possible)

-- invent a problem ("sin"), and sell the solution ("Jesus")

-- show how all the competition ("false religion") is inferior and how your product works best ("the only true religion").

-- make your product very recognizable, this is called brand building, and logos are quite effective ("the cross").

-- one of the most powerful marketing techniques is the use of testimonials. People explain how a product worked for them, etc. ("gospels').
