Personal background of me ... I am agnostic and I believe homosexuality is a genetic pre-disposition. But I'm curious... because I've heard of many things regarding homosexuality in the bible.

I've heard:
1.) Homosexuality isn't mentioned in the bible, but promiscuous sex is... and since the stereotype of homosexuals is that they supposedly have promiscuous sex... it concludes that gays are sinful.

2.) Homosexuality is directly mentioned in the bible and says it is sinful.

Please, no attacks. Serious answers only.

I'm sure you will get the line from those who want to justify themselves and rationalize away everything that is personally distasteful, but consider at least these 2 Scripture passages:

"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."
I Corinthians 6:9-11

Notice Paul says "and such WERE some of you"; not such ARE some of you.

Consider also:

18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

yes it is, if you have a bible, read Romans 1 (here is a quick link to one, just type in Romans 1, takes like 2-5 minutes to read)

I am well aware of the recent research about homosexuals but I really dont believe in it. If I were gay I wouldnt be flaunting it because I know it is a sin whether I have the desire for the same sex or not. We all have personal temptations and for some it is food, some it is lust, some gambling etc.... so that is no reason we should live in the desire when we know it is wrong. God is good at even taking a drunk and making him sober for life... Many gays can be cured of their desires as well....I was raised in Los Angeles... it is cool to be gay there, there are people there that are gay by mere temptation to think it is cool. If I could I would be in a relationship right now, but since Im married still, it wouldnt be right, so I am using self control so that I dont sin. I avoid the situations and the people that would cause me to sin as well....not look for the situations to sin or hang around people who dont see it as a sin. God has helped me as I pray for help as well....the homosexual can have help as well if he really wants it :)

It does mention that homosexuality is an abomination to God. Not the homosexual. It is just like me as a heterosexual, I am commanded in the Bible not to have sex outside of marriage, which would make me a fornicator and is a sin in God's eyes. Being attracted a member of the same sex is not the sin, it is when you have the act of sex with that person. We all have a sex drive, we are told in Scripture what to do with that, and unfortunately for the homosexual, they cannot have sex with someone with the same sex, but God wants them to do something else with their life. Any sex outside of God's commands is a sin and one should not be seen as worse than the other. The adulterer, fornicator, homosexual all have sinned when they go outside of God's plan. God has commanded us to love all people and that is where most of the Christian church has failed Him, by not showing homosexuals love but condemning them. They are just like all sinners and can repent of their sin and become His follower, which a number of homosexuals have done.

yes, it is in there.
the story of when Abraham goes to rescue Lot from Sodom and Gamorrah in Genesis tells that the men of the city went to Lot's house and demanded that he give them the 2 men (angels) who were visiting him so they could have sex with them. Lot refused knowing they were men of God and offered his daughters to the men of the city but they didn't want them. The entire cities of Sodom and Gamorrah were wiped from the face of the earth. They have NEVER been found to this day. (Genesis 18&19)

Leviticus 18 tells a LONG list pertaining to sexual relations and one of the ones that is mentioned reads..."Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin. vs29 Whoever commits any of these detestable sins will be cut off from the community of Israel." (Isn't it amazing that the only one, of about 20 laws, that God said is the ONE that everyone has a problem with? Many of the others have to do with incest but you NEVER hear anyone saying that having sex with your daughter or your mother or your sister is a 'genetic' issue!!!) God says that they are ALL sins!

Matthew 15:19-20 says that "from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, ALL SEXUAL IMMORTALITY, theft, lying, and slander these are what defiles you."

And 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 tells us, "Don't you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people-none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. Some of you were once like that. BUT YOU WERE CLEANSED; YOU WERE MADE HOLY; YOU WERE MADE RIGHT WITH GOD BY CALLING ON THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND BY THE SPIRIT OF OUR GOD." (this shows that if homosexuality is a sin in someone's life that you CAN change!!)

2 Peter 2 tells about how God can save a righteous person even while punishing the wicked and refers back to what happened in Sodom and Gamorrah. verse 10 says that "He (God) is especially hard on those who follow their own twisted sexual desire and who despise authority. these people are proud and arrogant..."

Also, know that this is a sin just like lying or murder. We, as humans, are the ones that have developed a scale of 'sin badness' so to speak (ever heard of a little white lie? It's still a LIE!!). God doesn't care about that and He sees ALL of our sins as just that. SINS. Therefore, since the Bible also tells us that ALL have SINNED and fallen short of the Glory of God, we can know that WE ALL need Jesus Christ's FREE GIFT of salvation. We simply have to accept that gift.
I hope that his is a good start for you. and also answers your question.

You certainly lit a firebomb with this question, didn't you?
I have heard and read a lot about this debate. I guess with opinions being what they are, and all the mistranslations and misinterpretations of the holy book, the only answer is to learn Aramaic, build a time machine, go back to when the original scriptures still existed, and read it for yourself. Oh, and hey! Let me know, okay?

Homosexuality isn't a predisposition. It's sin. Humans are predisposed to sin. We are evil. Period.

“ The heart is deceitful above all things,
And desperately wicked;
Who can know it? Jer. 17:9

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Cor. 6:9-10

Its in both the Old and New Testaments....
Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

The Bible says "Man is not to sleep with another man the way he would with a woman." However, this quote is from leviticus, which states that eating shellfish is also considered is a sin.

It is mentioned twice in Leviticus. In chapter 18, it states that it is a sin, and in chapter 20, it states that those who commit homosexuality be put to death.
