Well technically, I've had my "fairy tale wedding plan" since I was probably 9 or 10, but realistically, how far in advance of the date should a person really get into the plans and details?

In reality you can plan a cery nice afair in as little as 6 months, BUT ideally you want to start planning 18 months to 1 year before. For budget reasons you may even want to start sooner.

There are a few reasons to start planning 18 mos to 1 year before. 1 to get the reception site, DJ and Photographer you want, and 2 to plan your budget!

Most reception sites, caterers, DJs and other vendors book fast. Speaking form experience I planned mine in a little over a year, but the DJ I really wanted was already booked.

If it is too soon for you you can still be looking around and doing research for your budget.
Good luck!

You should plan it between 1 to 2 years in advance. It depends on how complicated your fairy tale wedding will be. So, right after you get engaged you normally would set a date to have the wedding ceremony and reception. Then you start looking for the church or temple. Then, you go to the place where you have your heart set on for the reception. The good thing about planning it 2 years ahead is that most likely they still have a lot of open dates. 1 year ahead is cutting it a bit close because those popular wedding reception places would be most likely already booked. Some of the very popular places are even booked 3 to 5 year in advance. Good luck!

When I was planning mine we started a year ahead due to my husband being in the military things got pushed up by 6 months and it was hard to find a hall carter on such sort notice a lot of places had told us that they had clients that had booked them over a year in advanced.

about a year in advance.. that way you can make sure you have the hall reserved for the day you want..

most halls book a year in advance

i have already booked my hall for my june 7 2008 day..and plan on ordering my dress this week (it takes 5-6 months to come in.. and than you need some time for alterations if need be)

we set a date and i had 6 months to plan mine-which is coming up this Oct. If you have about a year then you can get more detailed and save more money for it

I would give yourself at least 6 months, but since you have certain things in mind you might want to start sooner just becuase it might be hard find what fits your "fairy tale"

i say a year in advance but two years you can start looking at tons of places and prepare aka save for it but start deposits a year in advance but if you do put down like 50.00 for a dj a year in advance and then say you will pay the other part of the deposit 2 weeks before the affare at the finnal meeting then the rest the day of the wedding

Once you are engaged, usually one would set a date within the year. Depending upon where you live, some things need to be booked a year in advance - the minister/church, caterer, venue, and band.

I've had 3 daughters married off in the past six years and they started 1 year or more so you can get your hall rented out when you want it for the date you want.

i would probably wait until i was ask or had ask someone to marry, anytime before that and your plans might not work out as there will be two people in the planning.
