Imagine that every single cartridge in the world was going to be put away forever, except for ten. What ten calibers would you pick to be left? ( Handgun rounds can be included too. )

22LR, 223, 25-06, 30-06, 338 Win Magnum, 458 Win Magnum, 357 Magnum, 44 Magnum, 45 ACP. 12 Gauge.

That only covers a few of the true favorites, I would really like to saved the 41 magnum
That is a very misunderstood Magnum.

But with this I could hunt all over the world.

I hate giving up some of my favorites!
And I still can't decide whether to pick 45 Long Colt or 44 Rem Mag for a pistol cartridge.
Large bore rifle:
450 NE (why not? 470 would be just as good)
Large medium bore:
416 Rigby
Medium bore (OK, I should have kept it to two, but which?):
375 Ruger (expect big things here, but I hate taking the 450/400 3" off the list)
9.3x62 well balanced for non-dangerous big game
338-06 just to have a filler
Small bore:
7x57 Mauser for medium game of all sorts
257 Roberts for a combination varmint/deer class cartridge
22-250 because there had to be a 22 centerfire
22 LR because there's no way to do without it
Thanks for the mental exercise!
And I too hate giving up my 41 Mag, as well as my 348 levergun. Also, if scatterguns are included, I'd trade the 416 Rigby and the 338-06 for a 12 and a 28 bore.

Strange question but okay:

1. .22 Long Rifle (perfect plinker n great for close work n dispatching small vermin; suitable for rifle, carbine, pistol n revolver).

2. .25-06 Remington (stellar deer caliber and great varmint round).

3. .30-06 Springfield (great all around for N. American big game).

4. .458 Winchester Magnum (more rifles chambered for this one than for the Lott n no advantage with the Lott which also fires the .458 Win. since .458 Win. ammo will no longer be available; with only 60 lbs. recoil can be handled by most who need a dangerous game rifle).

5. .44 Magnum (out of a carbine nearly as effective as the .30-30 and can be used in a pistol/revolver also; .30-30 can't).

6. .10mm (a better defensive round than the .9mm or .40 or .45 acp).

7. .357 Magnum (best manstopper yet also handy out of a carbine).

8. ,9mm (lots of handguns n submachine guns chambered for this one and w/right defensive ammo adequate for those who can't handle the .10mm recoil; great for the ladies).

9. .380 acp (great backup and largest caliber available to civilians in many countries).

10. .32 acp (great for deep concealment).

.22 LR of course, .22-250, .243, 30-06, .338, 12 & 20 gauges, .357 mag, .44 mag and one big boomer, maybe .416 Rigby.

I should have said .50 BMG.

Do I need 10?

22LR for rifle, pistol and small varmints
22-250 for varmints
308win for most anything, including handgun hunting (Encore!)
300WSM for a bit more reach
338 Lapua for long range
460 Weatherby for the big stuff
40Short and Wimpy for practice
10mm Auto for when you mean it
357 magnum for wheelguns
12 gauge for shotgun folks

I guess I do.
