I think I embarrassed my girlfriend today when I kissed her in public. I'm about to call her now. I'd like to ask her what she though, is this alright and how should I phrase it?

Yes. Ask her how she felt about it and tell her that you dont want to make her feel uncomfortable if you kiss her in public. Let her give you her opinion, so she can feel better. Letting her let her feelings out to do is great when your in a relationship because she know that you care.

Don't worry, it could be that you startled her, but maybe she did not mind even though she acted embarrassed. Just ask her nicely and find out if she prefers for you to not kiss her in public. You could still hold hands or hold her waist if she says to not kiss in public.
