i picked up a nice magnavox from a yard sale its bigger than my original one it takes a while to warm up and it seems to fade when channels are changed it really looks like it could be a really good tv i'm just wondering if i could purchase a part and fix it. the picture blurs every once in a while is there anything i can do? Please only people who know about older tvs and how to repair them and i don't have enough to buy a new one so thats not an option. thank you

most times its cheaper to buy a new tv than to get it repaired, cuz its probably the picture tube. good luck.

It's probably the kind of thing that would require replacing a circuit board of some sort and that would likely be more than the price of just buying a new one. You'd have to go to a TV repair shop and by the time you add in the labor it probably wouldn't be worth it.

That's why they sold it in the yard sale, so they could get some money for it instead of just tossing it in the trash and getting nothing.

Now you get to toss it into the trash, having paid for the privilege. You'll probably go on buying broken TVs and eventually get to the point where you will have spent more than the price of a new one but still will have nothing.

slow warm up
going out of focus

best bet = bad pic tube.

second bet = bad pic tube

U may find someone to try to blow the shorts out of the tube.
call around and ask if they "rejuvenate pic tubes"

that is possible and it could last quite a while, or not.
there is no guarantee unless they just give credit on a new tube or tv.

I don't know what they are charging for that now a days.

I wouldn't replace the tube.
