I wholeheartedly agree with you. The Bible says the day of ones death is better than the day of one's birth, but how many really care what the Bible says? Celebrating the day of one's birth gives a person a feeling of self-importance, what we call the "me" attitude. Why should we get all the praise or gifts for our creation? Who really deserves all the praise for our being brought into the world? It is Jehovah God and we thank him for our lives each day and we do not need presents or glory directed to ourselves. The Bible says that the "meek" will inherit the earth. If we want all the praise and glory for our being born, then we are certainly not displaying a meek or humble attitude. The early Christians refused to celebrate the day of their birth and so do we.

The Jehovah's Witness claim that but they have not been able to show a Scripture that says so. If you can show one please do if not then take a number behind the others that have non-Biblical ideas for I have no time for the folly of those that do not have enough of the Word of God in them to answer with the scripture they say supports their point. Even the Jews Celebrate Birthdays.
BTW I celebrate both of my Birthdays.

Would you like to know why they won´t listen? .... simple cause Jehovah´s witnesses explain that and no matter if its true they reject everything that came or sounds that came from JWS, I am one and believe me even you show them in the bible.
no matter you explain them that Jesus never did it nor his disciples an never a God ´servant before Jesus did it they won´t accept it, for example the date of Jesus birth (Which is in the bible Tisri 15 a Jewish month) is not given great importance in the bible, they won´t accept it, that is why Jesus in Matthew 7:21-23 said that he will reject too many christians.

Sorry, just not true that birthdays are an abomination in the Bible. Just doesn't even hint at that anywhere. I would agree that there isn't any mention of it as a custom, but so what? That doesn't imply that it is evil to do! Bible doesn't mention anything about posting on Yahboo Answers, now does it?

I wish you had included a reference. I have never heard of a birthday being an abomination. Where did you hear or see this?

Really?
What kind of Bible are you reading?
My Bible says the angels celebrated and rejoyced at the birth of Jesus.
I celebrate at least four birthdays every year.
1. Jesus
2. My physical birthday
3. My re-birthday
4. My children's birthday

Because there is freedom in Christ and the Bible says that if we want to celebrate a special day then that's between us and the Lord.
Romans 14:4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. 5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind....22 The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves.
