I want to reserch my Family history, but I can't find anything. Where can I find anything about my Family? I've tried Ancestor.com they have records of my family from the 1930 census! Help!

The Mormon Family History Library is best resource. Also, try genealogy.com. And now Ellis Island has accessiblity to immigrant records. Go to Ellis Island website. Also National Archives for census records. More detailed.

I am wondering something--is your grandmother's name BEULAH BALIUS, by any chance?? If so, I have spent the entire evening on tracing her family on www.ancestry.com and on both sides of her parents are listings dating back to 1272 !!!!! At first, I typed in the name Robert Slaybaugh, and it came up on the ancestry world tree as Robert Donald Slaybaugh as the only one listed so if he is the right one, then I have the right grandmother. Let me know.

First and foremost, start with the people who are living. Find out what they know. Talk with aunts and uncles, cousins, and so on - anybody who is part of your family. Get dates, locations, names, memories, stories - it's ALL important. Find out what they remember about people who are no longer living, too. Put all your information into a database that will help you organize it. The Mormon church offers a free one, "Personal Ancestral File," that you can download from their web site (they won't bug you in terms of their religion). Once you have included as much as you can from people who are living, start to search online sites, records, etc., for matching people and events. Computers have revolutionized genealogy in the last two decades, and there are ENORMOUS amounts of data available, as well as innumerable personal genealogical web sites.

What do your parents say? Your grandparents. Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces. Check with the entire family somewhere there is a clue to help you further your research.
