Well, the only person I know with a piano is my grandmother and it's more of an organ than a piano. She's a really crappy teacher too. I've tried to learn from her and it didn't work.

I have very little money. I make maybe $20-$30 a month. Is there a way I could learn? I love the way a piano sounds and just think it'd be so cool to play it.

So, long story short: I'm low on cash, have no possible teachers and want to know if there's a way to learn.

Go to the pawn shop or try garage sales and get a keyboard. i know it is not exactly the same as a piano but you are on a limited budget. Maybe if you have the key board you could ask your parents or grama to pay for lessons. If not, my son is learning to play guitar from sites his has looked up on the Internet (I did offer him lessons but he prefers to teach himself). He did not know how to read music, so he has learned everything from the web sites.

Good Luck and don't give up!

Save your money. Find some other ways to make some money. Buy yourself a Casio Privia (approx. $350 on ebay; $500-600 retail). It's a lower end digital piano, but still has a decent touch and sound. Then, for about $25, get a good method book. Alfred Publishing makes some great books for older beginners, like yourself. They are very user friendly. If you're motivated enough, you MAY be able to teach yourself. You will have to have something to practice on daily, though. If you have other teachers in your area, besides your grandmother, call them to see if you could work something out where you attend once a month for an informal lesson where you can ask questions and play a few things to make sure you're understanding things.

**Note** This is not my recommendation to anyone who wants to learn to play well, unless they just absolutely do not have money to pay a teacher. Very few people have the motivation and self-discipline it requires to get through even the first level without the accountability and guidance that a teacher provides.

you can look in the yellow pages for "Music Lessons". Most of them have piano, or if your music teacher at your school can help you out. You can also learn on your own, just buying Beginning Piano and Easy Piano books can give you alot of beginner experience.
