I've been told that dogs eat grass when they're stressed or when they have an upset stomach while others have said that they shouldn't eat grass because it's just not good for them since they can't digest it. My dog when he does eat grass, just poops it out the next day with no harmful side effects....so it seems.

As long as you know the grass hasn't been sprayed with poison chemicals, fertilizers etc, it's fine for him to eat grass.

Well see the above person is right if the grass has chemicals it may cause them harm BUT!!!......As far as I know....dogs eat grass as their natural way of cleaning out their digestive system primarily or mostly from worms. So when you see them doing that it's because they know something is wrong with them that you may not know. Anything green kills them as I have heard and yes mine do poop it out the next day and are fine. They only eat it once in a while so I know it's not a diet their on ha ha....it's their own natural medicine...their cure.

There's no harm done. And in fact they do eat it when their stomachs are upset, so there's no need to fret over it.

Now, if your dog is eating a LOT of grass, or if some kind of chemical weedkiller or fertilizer has just been sprayed, it's another story.

Dogs eat grass to help with their digestion. It's perfectly safe. We never used poisons on the grass and our dog was just fine after eating the grass. They instinctively know when they should eat grass.

My dog eats grass sometimes, too. They all do and everyone says they shouldn't. Animals are their own best healers sometimes. Licking wounds, etc. I let my boy eat a little if he needs to. Not a bunch, but a little. [I never let him eat the grass at the dog park though - I think that grass is contaminated] In generL, It's never been a problem for us.

Listen to DP, eating grass is fine. Just be aware of poiseness plants if you take the dog hiking with you. My dog learned her lesson about eating poisen ivy/oak the hard way, but she'll still eat any other plant she can get at.

It's fine... if you can see it in their poop, it comes out... so it doesn't do any harm. It just passes through. Humans can't digest corn but we still eat it. No problem! I have three puppies who eat grass when they have an upset tummy. :(

Eating a little grass won't hurt the dog...and some say that it helps with digestive problems...if you have a real concern ask your Vet...GL!
