Start at neutral, or with love, then adjust degree as life moves forward, the longer you are together with each person, like coworkers.
The worse is if a person can't be trusted and is placed on the burn, never talk to, avoid at all cost list.
A person that has lost the trust of family or friends but not you should have a slim chance to remain close, although this will be difficult to be sure.
Influence from media, friends and family as to a persons character (+/-) has a major impact on personal interactions.

You can only love something with the inherent capability of loving you in return. That eliminates all non-life forms. Things can be burned or buried. But if you love a human who doesn't love you in return maybe it's alright to burn the slimey little puke in effigy just to get even.

Trust must be earned, it can not be taken lightly, a wise man will hear and increase learning and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsel, you must discern the spirit of a person, the questions one must ask are they giving you words to build you up or are they trying to tear you down, .....but we must remember their is nothing wrong with correction so long as it is done in love,....but trust must be earned before you can give tough love,.........try the spirit of a man to see if they are from God,......i know we are not perfect but try ones true motives to see if they are true to what they say they are,......Love builds up and Knowledge puffs up,.....knowledge is only a tool that true Love can work through,......seek understanding and wisdom through he which all things were created through his Love. I know there is a song title here, it is on the tip of my tongue, but I cannot think of it. . . . Drat!
We each need to tune into our inner sense of guidance and learn to trust this to help us make decisions. We can put it all on Source and then have the consummate excuse that "God made me do it," or we can choose to take responsibility for our actions and inactions. I think life is so much more valuable when we take that responsibility. It forces us to own up to ourselves and to trust that we can make viable decisions to help us move forward on our path. Source can be there to walk beside us, but we must make the choice to take whatever steps we take.
I believe one expression is, "God helps those who help themselves." Trust your inner sense of guidance.
