Whenever I eat an apple, my throat (and kind of my ear canal...) gets itchy. It doesn't happen when the apples are cooked, though. The same thing happens (but not as much) with peaches and plums.

Is there some common item in these fruits that I'm allergic to?

You could be allergic to the skin or to pesticides. Buy organic apples and try if the itchiness comes back.

Hi, Depending on how much you eat (pineapple and oranges are great examples) some fruits have a natural "attack". They have *poison* (It's really just enzymes that begin to eat you) that breaks down your mouth and lips. If you only eat a little, nothing should happen. It might of course also be the stuff they spray the fruits with (pesticides etc.) that you might very well be allergic to. It's unlikely that you are allergic to all fruits (fructose-intolerant) because then you would have died from eating anything :) Good luck

There may be. Peaches and plums are in the same family, and are also related to cherries, nectarines and apricots. These fruits are part of the almond family so you may be developing an allergy to nuts or the fruits. My daughter has an almond allergy and reacts just a badly to peaches, she stops breathing, vomits and goes into shock. Since the fruits you mentioned are part of a nut group, and nuts are a common allergy, you may wish to get tested by an allergist.
