So me my dad and my brother left and i felt fine when I got home. Its been happening more and my mom died 5 years ago when i was 8 and im 14 now and has anyone had this problem and i associate weird things with death now and its scary and its not normal how much I think about it and I know this is long I'm sorry but please if someone could help me with it and i can usually talk myself out of it by talking to my mom (even though since shes gone she cant answer) watching funny shows or reading funny books but i want it to stop.

i have an anxiety disorder and have experienced some similar symptoms..schedule an appointment with your doctor, and describe your symptoms. they will either have you visit a therapist, take some low dose medications, or both. i've had great results..i hope you will too!

Honey what you are feeling is normal for the pain you have suffered. Grieving and the time you spend on it differ in all of us. You will always miss your Mom and wonder what it is like where she is now.
I lost my two younger sisters and brother in the past 3 years. I was weird for awhile and still have strange times.
I do take a mild antianxiety drug lexapro. I feel much better. I spent too much time trying to imagine what and where my loved ones were. I beleive in God and know the big picture is more than I can understand now but one day when I have fulfilled all the things in life God has for me to do I will see my family again. Don't be in a hurry to do anything. Just take a minute at a time and take deep breaths. If at times movies or restaurants or whatever brings on your panic happens just have your dad and brother take you home. With love and support you will all work through this. Counseling is a good idea if you want to talk and medication helps some of us. It is all up to you my friend. Keep dad aware of how you are feeling. Good luck and God Bless

I'm sorry about your mom.

What you are describing is called post-traumatic stress disorder. Having a parent die is always difficult. It is extremely hard when you are young. Sometimes it takes a few years to sink in and sometimes the hurt shows up in weird ways that don't seem at all related. Talk to your dad and ask if you can see a counselor. Tell him you are having these thoughts, and want to talk to a safe adult who knows how to help kids deal with the death of a parent. You can also talk to the counselor at school, especially if s/he is someone you like and respect.

Btw, I don't think you are obsessed! I think what you are experiencing is normal, but something that a trained therapist could help make better.

I'd advise you take these problems to your father and tell him all about it. He's your dad, he cares about you, and he'd want to know that you're feeling this way so that he can help you through it.

Otherwise, if ever you just want to talk about your problems with someone in private, the people here care about what you have to say...

Sounds like anxiety attacks. I have had them. Way too many. I used to drive to work and all of the sudden I was sure I was going to die. I would actually pull onto the median so that I wouldn't hurt anyone else. Once we were leaving a restaraunt, in the parking lot, I was sure i was going to drop dead. I was freaking out and praying, please God don't let me die here in front of my kids. See a doctor. They can help for real. You would be shocked at how many people go through that!! It is so common its unreal. Don't worry and don't feel bad, you are not alone at all.

seems like you are coping with it by urself
u need to talk to your father and tell him what are you going through
seems like you have an obsession with the things that are about death

obsession, a word which psychologists use to mean a troubling thought that occurs again and again and causes severe distress in a person.
