There is nothing 'wrong' with not believing in God or any gods for that matter. It is simply disapproved of by those who do believe. If one is skeptical or disbelieves it throws doubt on the 'personal mythology' of people that do believe. It also implies that they are wrong in their beliefs or have a flawed system of accepting and creating their personal beliefs. So by not believing you are insulting the decision making process of believers. They don't like that.
It has nothing to do with ethics or morals as it is often found that atheists tend to be more ethical and have a more solid basis for their personal morals than do religious persons.

I think because religion and the image of God is taught so early in ones life you don't question what is real or not real. You have faith that there is a God based on the stories told over & over through time (how could everyone be wrong right?).

You have a right to your beliefs as does everyone else. Faith gets us through life even if your faith is that there is no God. You just need more proof that there is a God besides the written word and there is nothing wrong with that.

There is so much we don't know, but whatever gets you through the day is ok with me.

I've never heard another Christian say that Atheists are "bad people." In fact, people are people. Good and bad - everywhere. But Christians are forgiven by God and because they are commanded by God to spread the Good News, that's why you hear from us regarding Jesus. We truly don't want anyone to miss out on the free gift that Christ offers.

Nothing spiritual can be proven with hard, cold fact, but we know what we know because of what we've experienced. And we have experienced a real relationship with the Living God. That cannot be squelched or denied, even though we can't hand you something tangible to prove it. All we can do is show you the love of Christ.

Hope that helps explain things from a Christian perspective. :-)

First, truth cannot be supported by anything.
Second, you are putting too much stock into what people say about you. They will always own you if you don't stop.
Third, God gave you thought even to the extent that you deny God and it makes no difference. God will love you no matter what you think, do, or say.

God cannot be harmed in any way, shape, or form.

There is noting inherently wrong with one choosing to not believe in God or a supreme being as all beings have been created with free will and God allows us to do what we choose.

I personally know many atheist who are morally, ethically and individually good , kind and caring human beings.

The other thing I have noticed is that most atheist, at least in this nation, seem to be atheist from a Christian perspective.

all that I would ask of each atheist is that he or she take the time to investigate some of the other religions of man, Buddhism, Hinduisms, Jainism, Sikhism, agnosticism and Islam, etc., with an open mind and open heart to see if they might not find that they do believe in a Creator or Supreme being, just not the one that others might believe in as God can lead an individual in any way and manner that He may choose and I should not judge others if they are truly following their heart and mind and soul.

May it all be well with you.

I'm not angry at you for not beliving in G-d.
I don't want to personally attack you for not.
I abide by live and let live.
Here are some questions for you however.
Why would you want to attack those who choose to believe, in the Judeo-Christian G-d by calling the Bible "Lieing" (lying)?
Are you just not believing in our G-d?
Or are you believing in absolutely no higher authority?
No Buddha, Annapura, Ganesh, Maya, Brahma, Ram, Kali, Shiva, Krishna, Vishnu, Kurma?
No Ahura Mazda?
No Izanagi and Izanami?
No allah?
If that is the case, there are many teachings, and not all of them are called "The Bible."
Just food for thought.

I don't think all Christians think like that, only the ones who themselves are constrained from doing bad things through the fear of God, maybe it is safer that they believe in God.

A good Christian would not consider you a bad person simply because you were an atheist.

Your earthly label for now is of no value. If you think good and do good, that is good, but if you think bad and do it, well, that is a bad thing. But i do hope that you find what you need soon. The mere fact that you are here now indicates you are waking up to some degree, so have courage and keep going.

I don't think Atheist are bad people. There are Christians who are bad people and there are Atheist who are bad people. Their beliefs have nothing to do with who they are as people. Everyone is human, everyone makes mistakes, and not everyone is perfect.

* I also agree with "Memory" below... Why is it so wrong to believe in God!?

Hun, you are not the only one who is judged. I am always being told that my religion is false, and that I am in a cult, etc... I am NOT a bad person, but that is not going to keep people from saying otherwise.

I as a Christian do not tell you that you are wrong not to believe in God.

Second, God says, there is no one good but God so even Christians are not good.

Third it is our saving faith in Jesus Christ, God and the Holy Spirit that make us Christians.

Lastly, whether or not we as Christians can prove the Bible to be real does not stop anyone in the world in the END from not being judged by it.
