I am going to purchase a 2000 Buick Century Custom. I looked at the recalls for it, and two of them could potentially be dangerous. How do I go about letting the dealership aware of this before I purchase it? Do they have an obligation to check the car out and see if it was affected by the recalls? Do I have to pay for potential repairs out of pocket for these recalls if affected?? Please help.

Many recalls are Vin# specific just ask the dealer to show you any open recalls and get them done at the manufactures cost before driving away they should have done that anyway.

Hi ...
The recalled should hae been fixed.. Ask the dealership if the repairs have been completed. Also you can check with the vin number and calling buick themselves they have a list of cars which have been recalled and had the jobs completed.
Nearly all cars have had recalls it seems... Look at the ford fiasco with the cruise control switch which cause fires in cars.
So get the Vin number and check with Buick recalls

The dealership should or will know now about the recalls. Also since they were recalls the problems should have already been fixed. If they had not been fixed on this car. One way they might be able to get around it is. SELL AS IS.

My question to you is this. If two of the recalls could be potentially dangerous why would you want to buy the car.

hello. good luck with buying your new/old Buick. Hopefully the dealer will think kind and wise, and not take you as a 'sucker' or deny any questions you may have. be assertive, even forceful with them. YOU as customer hold the cards now. good luck, it can be a bit of 'poker game'
