Could Larry Holmes actually be a predictable liar? Can actions speak louder than his words? Do you think Larry would lie to make his statement of how he feels about another stand?
How many of you liked it when Mike Tyson laid Larry Holmes flat on his back like a fish gasping for water, or in Holmes case a time machine!
What is your strong thought on why Larry Holmes acts the way he does, he is literally the sport of boxing's most obnoxious inappropriate dis respectful boxer that ever boxed. Do you agree?

Jimmy bright I like your answer but a little more detail would have served it right, also why do you have to get all offensive?? Just because people ask questions who are not only a fan but a contributor to the sport you don't have to act like your the hot shot just because you work with a boxing site of which in my opinion shares many of stories that are 60% lies 30% opinionated and 10% fact! Get over yourself kid there are far better sites to be on if you want to know about boxing and the many gifts the sweet science can provide.

mrraraavis, I have every reason to put the Mike and Larry in the same question. As it shows in the facts!!! Larry was also a fighter for Don King but because Tyson was a far better fighter than Larry Holmes through out Larry's whole career Don picked Mike as his warrior for the win. Larry didn't like the attention Mike was getting and because he was so young it gave Larry an even greater reason to hate him. My point is kid, Larry may very well dis like Mike Tyson more than any other boxer that stood before him in a ring or outside of it! So why in the hell do I not have a reason to put the two into the same question??? Make sense kid if your going to answer my questoins! Thank you, peace.

bluedevil please explain why Holmes at a much older age went on to fight and stay on his feet against the likes of Holyfield and Mercer??? I don't think his prime had anything to do with him losing to Mike I think he was meant to lose to an explosive fighter like Mike and no matter in his prime or not he would have still lost!
Larry Holmes will forever be remember as the cry baby who talked allot of smack about everyone he hated.
If you want an action that speaks louder than words just look at how Mike knocked Larry out?? No matter if young or old Larry never in his whole career got rocked like that not before and most certainly not after.
Give Mike his respect he was better than Holmes and Holmes didn't like it! It was that reason Holmes bad mouthed Mike and everyone else who was either better than him or against his bad sportsmanship as a boxer. We should be talking about how nice it was to finally see his big mouth get shut as he got knocked out by Mike.
I don't like Larry Holmes even if he was a decent fighter his attitude is what kept him below for so long.
Who is this bluedevil guy?? I hate reading his answers because they make no sense and it is obvious he hates Mike Tyson not for his natural skill level but for what happened in his personal life, give the man his respect he has done far more than you can ever accomplish in the ring and now just wants to live in peace without the media and morons like you hassling his very name his very self respect! R-E-S-P-E-C-T!!!

How can you put Larry Holmes and Mike Tyson together in your question and then say that Larry Holmes is "literally the sport of boxing's most obnoxious inappropriate dis respectful boxer that ever boxed" Tyson talks about eating people's children and speaks of their mothers and bites ears and is in and out of jail. Holmes made a bad comment about Marciano when he was approaching his record and some other comments but he is definitely not the worst. Infact I think he has at least matured some now that he is retired. Tyson has not. There are a lot worse than Holmes.

Holmes was the perfect antagonist. He had the unique ability to make people not like him and people would pay good money to see if the other boxer would be able to beat him. As a fighter he is one of the best and severely overlooked when people are asked to list all time greats. I watch him now on ESPN Classics and his commentary is not actually that bad. As far as him going in the ring with Tyson. I think the end result would have been the same young or old version of Holmes. Tyson was just that good of a boxer at that time. As far as my thought on why he acts this way. The same reason George Foreman acted the way he did prior to Zaire. He just could. Once he found out he was mortal I think things started to come into perspective.

Larry Holmes was a great fighter and champion. Unfortunately for him however, was that he had this everybody is picking on me complex and felt underappreciated by writers and boxing authorities during his great career. First people hated him after he beat a worn out Ali, then later he made comments after a fight that Rocky Marciano couldn't carry his jockstrap which didn't exactly endear him to the boxing public. Many times he was simply his own worst enemy because of his nasty attitude. When Tyson knocked him out he was beyond his prime and making a comeback even though he was still thinking he could regain the title. I never cared for Tyson's actions and comments either so I was also happy when Buster Douglas and Evander Holyfield knocked him out. But you are right about Holme's bad attitude and it made it very difficult to like the man though he was a heck of a fighter.

I think Larry has had to deal with a lot of crap in his career.First, coming after Ali and dealing with people comparing him to Ali. Second, the whole atmosphere concerning Gerry Cooney. Third, the thing concerning Rocky Marciano. So, to some extent, I can understand his attitude. But he does take it a bit far sometimes.

Did Larry Holmes' mouth make a difference? I think not. It was his freight-train jab and that sledgehammer right hand that did the talking that mattered, kid. Please try to keep your eye on the ball.
