1 Believing that the Earth is 6000 years old.
2 Believing that God made the Earth to look exactly like it was 6000 years old to "test our faith."
3 Believing that everywhere in the Bible it says that the Earth is young, (not billions of years old), it is really "just a metaphor" or "poetic license"?

which of these is more silly?
I think I'll stick with science which dates the earth at millions of years old. (This agrees with the scripture too)

wow that IS tough!!!
my mom is a fundy and I may never stop tweaking her nose(I really should grow up,I AM 50)and she believes that evolution is a PLOT and the bones are FAKE.
You know those little jesus fish on the back of cars?
Well, there's this online store I like called evolvefish, where you can buy stick-on FEET to add to them. I live in the bible belt, and I have a pack of them...waitin for a visit from MOM!
on the back of my car I have a magnet that says DOG

In the end,somebody gonna have to die and come back w/info for me...in FRONT of me. Waaaayy too many folks claiming to KNOW stuff. Watch where you step, there's some big fertilizer been spread here!

The evidence that the Earth is waaaayyyy older than 6000 years old is quite apparent. I think even in the Christian world it's really only the fringe that really believes that. But I understand,it's probably hard when your beliefs are constantly proven wrong by every scientific advance that occurs for centuries.

It's a toss up between 2 and 3 since both are based on human assumption and not biblically based as the 6,000 yrs is more Biblically based from adding the given ages in the Bible up to Jesus and then from Jesus to now.

Things in the bible were considered to be 'true' until they were demonstrated to be NOT true. Then, they were magically transformed from 'truth' into 'allegory' and 'metaphor'. This is a key element in the process by which the religious 'shepherds' (puppet-masters) have kept their 'flock' (sheeple) ignorant and bamboozled for the past 1650 years.

Well, considering metaphor is one of the most powerful ways our minds communicate (poetry, dreams, art...)...
I'd say metaphor is not at all 'silly'.
