Isaiah 14:12
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Where did the devil come from? How did such a creature come to be? Did God purposefully create an evil being? Where in the Bible does it reveal the answers to these questions? Can you help me understand why Satan really is the enemy of mankind?

God created him, Lucifer which means "shining star" the most glorious of angels. And the proudest. He took it on himself to rebel against God and tried to establish his own rule. He was thrown from heaven and stripped of his glory. He is now bitter beyond the comprehension of men having had and lost everything anyone would ever want. He wishes to corrupt all of Gods creation to spoil the plan of God. (He seems to be supernaturally delusional)
Lucifer's and the other evil angels are evil because of their choice to be so.

You ansered part of your question read all of the following:

Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Isa 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

This explains why Lucifer is the enemy (he wanted to be God), he had a free choice just like the rest of us. Also satan wants us to join him in hell.

1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Lucifer (satan, devil, wicked one) was created by God, read the following:

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Peace be with you

God would never create a being that is so evil.

Psalms 5:4 - "For you are not a God taking delight in wickedness; No one bad may reside for any time with you"

Satan was originally an angel. When saying that the Devil “did not stand fast in the truth,” Jesus indicated that at one time that one was “in the truth.”

John 8:44 - "YOU are from YOUR father the Devil, and YOU wish to do the desires of YOUR father. That one was a manslayer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of [the lie]"

1 John 5:19 says: “The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.”

The Bible inducates that Satan is a real enemy of mankind.

Revelation 12:7-9 - "And war broke out in heaven: Mi′cha·el and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven. So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him"

God created all things. If you are not sure why Satan is an enemy of mankind then ask why things happen in the world that everyone says "God works in mysterious ways"... because Satan has power over the world and God has permitted his rule outside of God's kingdom. The world obviously is not in God's kingdom, so why blame God for the problems? Blame Satan, where it really belongs.

Satan was once an angel created by God. He was called "the anointed cherub that covereth." He coveted God's power and riches and tried to overthow him. God cast him out of heaven along with 1/3 of the angels. Because he opposed God, he has become the antithesis to God. He deceived Adam and Eve in the garden by telling them that they could become like God. Adam and Eve had dominion over the earth. When they fell they gave that power to satan. God has allowed him to continue but he has been ultimately defeated by Jesus' death and resurrection. Satan is our enemy because he is God's enemy. Jesus is our savior. Satan's goal is to deceive as many people as he can. Our only hope is Jesus Christ. You can read about the fall of man in Genesis. Satan, before the fall, is described in Ezekial chapter 28.

God does not create evil. lucifer was created good from God's hands. he made other decisions that led him onto the evil path he currently follows...

rev. 12:7-9
7And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

Ahriman ripped from the womb before his brother Ahura Mazda. The devil is the oldest, darkness came before light and will be here after the last start burned out. Time will be destroyed soon and this war will be settled. The Xian God did nothing, except try to take the birthright of my Master away. And he will be punished for this, as will be his flock.

Satan (Lucifer) isn't a fallen angel or evil. The bible is all lies to trick and enslave humankind. Satan is an advanced being who actually created humanity. The rest of the world and universe just evolved so creationists and evolutionists are both partly right.
Jehova doesn't exist but those Archangels do and they are the enemy of mankind. Satan is our father and he is here to help us be free.

Yes, God created Lucifer. He was an angel.

"A University professor at a well known institution of higher learning challenged his students with this question. "Did God create everything that exists?"

A student bravely replied, "Yes he did!"

"God created everything?" The professor asked.

"Yes sir, he certainly did," the student replied.

The professor answered, "If God created everything; then God created evil. And, since evil exists, and according to the principal that our works define who we are, then we can assume God is evil."

The student became quiet and did not answer the professor's hypothetical definition. The professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.

Another student raised his hand and said, "May I ask you a question, professor?"

"Of course", replied the professor.

The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"

"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?" The other students snickered at the young man's question.

The young man replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-460F) is the total absence of heat; and all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat."

The student continued, "Professor, does darkness exist?"

The professor responded, "Of course it does."

The student replied, "Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact, we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."

Finally the young man asked the professor, "Sir, does evil exist?"

Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course, as I have already said. We see it everyday. It is in the daily examples of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.

To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist, sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat, or the darkness that comes when there is no light."

The professor sat down.

The young man's name -- Albert Einstein"
