That truly is up to you! It would be much cheaper to just plan it yourself, and you have 2 years to do it. You could then take that saved money that is not going to a planner and put it towards your wedding however you want.
If you do get a planner they will probably do so much of the work, but it does cost lots!!
Also I think it depends how in control you want to be of what happens at your wedding and how you want it to go.
Either way, you are getting married and it should be one of the best days of your life! Congratulations!

Most cruise lines have an event coordinater specifically dedicated to helping you plan the wedding. I see not reason to hire an extra wedding planner on top of that, especially not with all the resources available online now a days.

A tip from someone who works in the biz.....if you are getting married on a cruise get married at the END of the cruise unless you are eloping with just the two of you. It's kinda awkward having all your family and friends up your bums on the honeymoon or pretending like you don't know each other to get a little privacy.

The cruise ship will do a lot of the planning for you, so you don't need to hire a planner.

Remember if you hire a planner you would be paying for their cruise plus their fee.

Because it's going to be in an unfamiliar place you should go with a planner. Even though it may be unfamiliar to them too, but they will be able to go into full detail with the ship coordinator and be able to plan and coordinate and you really don't want to worry about those details on your big day, so yeah hire a planner and have a stress free day. and congrads on your engagement.

Contact the cruise line and see what they do for weddings. They may give you enough help, that you don't need a wedding planner, and they can assist so that there are no bumps in your plans.

Most cruise lines have event coordinators. Check with the line and see what kind of services they offer in regards to weddings. I'm sure they will have a packages, plus wouldn't it be neat if the captain performed the ceremony like in the old days?

You have 2 years to work on it.

Is it better for you to feel good about planning what you want, as opposed to what a planner wants?

OR better to pay someone thousands of $$, that you can use for the wedding, partys, honeymmon, etc...

Most planners have a criteria, and try to fit you into their scheme. It gives THEM more bang for your buck, but not neccesarily what you want.

You might want to ask whether or not there is someone on board the ship who can assist you with the preparations for your wedding. That way, someone else will have the headaches of the big day, and you can enjoy it. All you will have to do is make decisions on what you want and they will do the work. Enjoy and best wishes to you both.
