wow!
You know, that if man was created in God's image, (characteristically speaking) and God created the universe, how is it so difficult to acknowledge that man, (in God's image) would create the many things that he did?
How about the pyramids? Even today, scientists can not figure out how we humans built them without modern machines.
Does the fact that modern science can not figure out how ancient civilizations built the ancient structures, like Stonehenge, Angkor Wat, the Pyramids, and other ancient marvels of human engineering prove that they do not exist?
My friend? You would do well to learn what a false dichotomy is. Or are they not teaching this at the community college?

Well, I remember when I had my one cell phone service that things weren't actually FREE and CLEAR. So, why should any book written long before these things were ever in existence be mentioned either? These things won't actually be the main topic when a natural disaster strikes such as an earth quake and a tsunami but people will still try to use them. Maybe 6,000 cyclical years is typically what we have of recorded history available. Science at this point in our lives is in some way prophetic because much of it now uses artificial intelligence or computers to predict things that will come to pass. It's only logical to assume that certain natural disasters will happen again in the future using certain calculations and other information. Some might perceive a computer as a spiritual beast or a monster created by man or the devil especially if viewed by someone who's never seen one. Otherwise most people might still believe it was some invisible deity causing these things to happen. Technology can be frightening when it can predict things in advance and be accurate as well. This doesn't mean that it caused the event either. Religion has it's way of evolving with technology. Maybe we have near extinctions every six thousand years anyway. I think that the Bible is often misinterpreted because of it's descriptions of past events and misunderstanding of natural laws and phenomena.

It doesn't. People think that each creative day was 24 hours long. They were not. They think because Adam was created 6,000 + years ago that that is how old the earth is but it is not. Genesis 1:1 simply states that in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. It does not say how long ago that was. Genesis 1:2 starts with Jehovah getting the earth ready for life. The earth and heavens were already created at that time. The Bible never said the seventh day ended. We are still in the seventh day today. Paul said they were in the seventh day during his time. So, if we are still in the seventh day, that means the seventh day is over 6,000 years long. The previous six were no shorter. When the Bible speaks of morning and night as one day, it means a beginning and end to a creative time period. God does not measure time as humans do.

1. NOWHERE in the Bible does it claim that the age of the planet is ANY specific number. Anybody who says this is lying. Many people take the 6-1,000 year number from their calculations of the lineages of Abraham and his ancestors, which ARE given. It is not a quote, it is a calculation.
2. Why would the "low" number affect the way society has progressed technically? We don't find cell phones or TV's or satellites mentioned in the histories of the Industrial Revolution, either, but that doesn't mean they were NEVER invented. Your arguement there doesn't even make sense. The recording of any history doesn't "cancel out" any possibilities of stuff happening in that history's "future".
IF you are going to make that arguement, then you need to take to task the folks who say "anything not found in the Bible shouldn't be used by Christians". THEY exist. If you find one of those folks using a cell phone, by all means, have at it!

The Bible does not put a date on the earth, It's probably billions of years old. when he is first appears in the Bible(John 1:1) . The time span man is talking in connection with the ending of the world, is from when God created man and woman. six thousand year was supposed to be when the world is to end, If you start from genesis and add the age of Patriarchs plus their oldest son. you will see, that the time is close at hand, also watch the news for the fulfillment of the prophecy's.

Tell me please where the Bible say that the earth is 6,000 years old? I know that because the years add up to that number you want that to force that on Bible believers.. It just isn't so. Gap genealogy was used to cut down on space needed in those short pages (remember the pages had to be copied by hand there were no printing presses). There were many generations that had no significant message God wanted recored. Then each day of creation? Are you saying they were 24 hours long... It's the same idea as the old times saying "back in my day, things weren't so easy".. Did that man's youth and early manhood last one 24 hour day? The rest of you question makes no sense at all... First of all, the Bible does not say that the earth is any thousands of years old or any millions of years old. It tells the story of Jesus Christ! It is not a total recap of everything that happened in history. It simply tells us that the earth was created in six days by God. You can add up the geneologies in the Bible and see that the earth is about six thousand years old. The predictive science methods used to date items are not accurate past a few thousand years anyway. So no one but God knows exactly how old the earth is. There are some good theories out there and some bad theories. Evolution is a very bad theory. it is totally speculative with absolutely no evidence what so ever. There is plenty of "false" evidence that "claims" to support evolution. Not one beneficial fossil has ever been found!
Search out the truth. Evolution is false.

Perhaps there is a difference in education. Maybe, when the bible was written, it had a mis-translation. The bible, after all, is not the original book. The original book was written in Hebrew, and for Jews and Gentiles alike. Later, it was translated. Perhaps it was merely a mistranslation.
Or, perhaps God's view of 6000 years old is very different than man's.
One more theory- Man wrote the bible, not God. Couldn't a mistake have easily been made?
Also, the bible has not been updated since the time of Christ. Therefore, if it was 6k years old THEN, then it would be 6k years plus another 2000 years, making it just over 8k years old. It's been 2000 years since the bible was written, so maybe it's more precise than youre giving it credit for.

They prefer to believe a creation of man is infallible while the whole of Gods creation is doomed to hell for its iniquity. It is a form of spiritual pride that says their creations are better than those of God. The Bible is a great inspiration and a wonderful testimony but it is NOT infallible and to say it is proves that it has become an Idol for people that claim to know Christ that have no knowledge of God.

The Bible provides a chronology of history that extends back to the creation of Adam and Eve and to the creation of the earth. From this chronology it is possible to determine the date of the creation and hence the age of the earth.
Archbishop Ussher of Armagh (1581-1657) had calculated the year of creation to be 4004 BC If that was not precise enough, Dr. Lightfoot of Cambridge worked out that the exact time when God completed His creation was 9 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 4004 BC (see the book 7whinking about God by Sr. R. W. Maqsood, p. 63).
Many religious groups and sects have used this date in predicting precise dates for the end of the world, but all such predictions have so far proved erroneous. The one fact against them is that the world is still intact and we are very much alive. One reason al1 of those predictions failed is that they are calculated from a false date of creation. If 4004 BC was the year of creation, that would make the earth less than six thousand years old. No scientist can accept this today.
Modern scientists estimate that the earth is 4.5 billion years old with a maximum error of 2.2 % (see The Bible, the Quran and Science, p. 148). Knowing this, many educated people lost faith in religion. They naturally felt that the Word of God should not contain errors of this kind. Others maintain that the Word of God was meant to teach only that truth which God wanted put into the scriptures for our salvation It if therefore immaterial if the book contains historical or scientific errors. As the scientist Galileo put it, the Bible is there to teach people how to go to heaven; it is not there to teach people how the heavens go. Some maintain, therefore, that it is understandable that the book will contain some historical and scientific errors since it was written by human beings who lived a long time ago and did not share our modern knowledge.
The Quran, on the other hand, does not contain any historical or scientific or any kind of error. God challenges us to test this claim by examining the book for ourselves (see Quran 4:82).
The Quran does not repeat the incorrect biblical chronology we have seen above. The Quran does not give a chronology since its purpose is not to provide us with the details of history, but only to teach us the lessons arising from specific events in history.
The Quran does, however tell us that God measured the sustenance of the earth in four periods (Quran 41 :10). As to what could be the significance of these four periods, Dr. Bucaille comments as follows: "One could perhaps see in them the four geological periods described by modern science, with man's appearance, as we already know, taking place in the quaternary era. This is purely a hypothesis since nobody has an answer to this question" (The Bible, the Quran and Science, p. 150).
How did the author of the Quran avoid the mistake in chronology committed by so many others, and believed in by so many others even up to our present day? Could a man in the seventh century have known that the earth was much more than six thousand years old? How could he come by this modern knowledge unless God was revealing knowledge to him?
God tells us that the Quran is His book and not the work of any man (see Quran 10:37).

Here's the reason why existence of Man has been 5767 years since Creation is because G-d's gift of the Torah says so. If you believe this everything else follows. If you don't; nothing else matters. Science is also from G-d's creations and that it is a gift from G-d to Man to have "mobile telephones" which are derived from that science.
