I am in the Army, and I dont know how to get a drivers license! I dont have a permanent address in the state. I will never have a permanent address here...so what do i do? do they have exceptions for military members?

Also, I dont have a car at all, and I would just like a drivers license...do i still need liability insurance?

You can get it at any state that you are in. You don't have to go back to your home state, you can if you want. You have an address, obviously, so wherever you are staying at (dorms, barracks, apt) give that address. If you dont have a car, you don't need insurance, you can borrow a car from a friend for your road test, make sure they have insurance

What you'll want to do is contact your state's department of motor vehicles and see what they have for military members. Alot of times you can go online and look at their requirements for military members. While I was in the Air Force, I still kept my state's driver's license. I just had the address updated to where I was.

In short, contact your state's DMV and then go from there.

Military members get driver's licenses from their home state. Contact the court house in your hometown when on leave.

Your military address will serve. It always did for me.
