Hey. Yesterday we were swimming in gym and there is some work being done to the girls locker room, so the teacher said we had to SHARE - that is boys and girls in one room. I was in disbelief. Can they do this? We ended up being in corners getting changed under towels. it was pretty embarrassing. And it's also quite a big class. Is this legal?

The teacher probably had this planned so that she could get a large charge. She should be reported, and I hope you do it!

Yes, it is probably legal given the repair being done. Proper authorities must make ample room for each gender's class to change w/out being seen by the other gender. Barriers of some sort, or at least the supervisor/teachers and their aids could have made proper measures that neither gender would be able to cross an 'imaginary' line to be anywhere near the other gender.
You may have the right to question this w/your school authorities and get their responses. Also, you may pass this question to your parents!
Perhaps the better thing would have been to postpone any of the activities that could have caused you ALL to have been involved in this mess in the 1st place for a reasonable amt. of time until the work is repaired or to have found alternative sport activies to prevent what happened. Please speak w/your parents!

A teacher who had boys and girls of any age undressing in the same room at the same time should be reported to authorities. Tell your parents immediately and give them a list of other students who were present for this. Report it to the principal of the school and to the school board immediately.
The teacher will almost certainly lose their job, as well they should. The legal ramifications boggle the mind.

I can't see a teacher attempting a crime with so many witnesses but the legal question can be better answered by a lawyer in your area (or legal aid). A better idea would have been to have the girls go in alone then once they were finished, the boys could go in and change.

It is not legal in any state that I know of. At least she should have had boys change and then girls. There is also the question of privacy, for female, who are having a period, at the time.

If you're at a private school, then most of your rights are rendered useless.
However, you should report this. Get as many kids as you can, you'll have more credibility.
