Nope, a 9 mos old male can get a female dog pregnant.. Could have any number of puppies, you can't guarantee that they would have only one. Odds are against it.

Umm... I don't know what book you're reading, but 9 months is old enough for a male to mate (although he shouldn't until 2 years, because his sperm are not strong enough yet to produce healthy pups) and the number of puppies depends on the size, age, and breed of the female. Very few dogs only have one puppy at a time, so unless you have a 3lb Chihuahua, that's probably not true either.

if the female is in heat then yes she can get pregnant. Humans have periods as young as 10 and guess what.. that means human girls can have babies at 10. Does that mean they should? By all means no! Any domestic animal having young at that age risks serious complications and death, even wild animals run risks of problems.

That's where the similarities end. A dog's uterus is shaped more like a tree than a balloon like our's is. That means the more times they are bred "mate with the dog" the more pups they will have.

More or less though, go get your pup spayed. She'll be healthier, happier, and live a longer life.

The puppy amount will be unknown but he's ready to go and could easily inpregnate a dog. If this happened to you in a couple of weeks about 4-5 take the female to the vet and get a sonogram to see if she is and then get ready for the pups!

At 6 months old my dog had 3 puppys....
so for a 9 month old dog you should be expecting at least 5-6!

Your kidding right?? if the dog is old enough to breed and mating happens ( they get stuck together) then congrats you are going to have puppies in 62 days. My male was 11 months old when my female came into heat. We now have 12 puppies. AKC doberman's if anyone is interested im me.

Dogs hit sexual maturity at 7 months so dogs can have one puppy but it doesn't matter a female dog can have a whole litter of puppy as long as the dog is over 7mounths.

False information. The amount of puppies depends on the amount of eggs that were fertilized at the time of intercourse.
