The Iraq blunder will be resolved the same way Vietnam and Korea were resolved. With a stalemate that bleeds US men women and resources until somebody figures out that the 19th century version of "victory" or "mission accomplished" doesn't exist any more.
We won't surrender Iraq, we will just withdraw because that is the pragmatic thing to do.
You see all kind of Internet cowboys on here swearing they will never give up...
But they are on Yahoo and not in Iraq. If they were on the ground they would be crying to come home, like little girls.
So be prepared for a situation in which the US doesn't actually lose, but it certainly doesn't win either.

Dear Karl, You ask what may seem a silly question because a lot of people don't see us as the aggressor. However, your question is suited to a real answer. Yes, we can pull out but the folks we tried to leave in charge have lived for years under a dictator (not just Saddam Husein) and have little in the way of backing up this new form of government. Leaving will require years of financial and military support. While many of us don't want to continue this misguided chose of intrusion, we are morally delegated to see in to a decent conclusion. Maybe our next administration has a thoughtful plan?

Yup lets just pull a SP and pull out. Oh by the way while we are at it let's open GITMO. Oh Lets fully open all our borders. Spit on the tumb of the unkonwn soldier. Let's take a leak on the NY ground zero. I will pull down my old glory and fly a white sheet and shove my head in a hole in the ground.
It is time we stop playing this stupid game of surrender. We have a job to do by bringing Iraq democracy. Give them a chance to form a government. Look at what stalling and BS our wonderful senate and congress are doing.. The "all blamb the President" is not correct all of them are fully to blame.

There's no one to surrender to; Saddam Hussein is dead. The thing's been lost for two years now, so I don't know why any further effort is needed.
The more we lose soldiers, the worse the loss becomes. We actually begin winning by pulling out, as it will decrease the casualty list.
D'oh.

It is already lost. You cannot win a limited war.
Even a military win would be a loss.
The cost is so high. We will never impose our beliefs to the Iraquis, we have thousands of dead and injured, not to mention loss of equipment. There has been piles and piles of money spent and the result looks like a scrap yard or like Florida after a wind storm. The rest of the world is turning against US policy. That is a real high cost.
I would hate to be part of the last contingent leaving Iraq, I really believe they will be butchered by the same people they were trying to help..

You have a great knack for asking leading questions, have you thought about working for the Republican Party? Fox 'news?'
By the way, there IS no Iraq to surrender to, they have no government. And we won the war long ago. What we are losing is an occupation. Probably too subtle a distinction for you, though.

WOW.......let's go ahead and just spit on the graves of all my friends that have given their lives in support of this war too. I'm in Iraq right now, and unless you've been out here (and I doubt you have) surrendering is not an option. We are American's, we dont surrender. Especially to a**holes like the ones planting bombs on the side of the roads killing my brothers and sisters and arms, killing their fellow muslims, kids, babies, women, entire families......I can't believe I've even dignified this question with an answer. Knowing that we're out her busting our a**es, giving our lives so that people like you can say stuff like that........It's amazing how selfish and shallow people can be........

The democrats in congress are working on it...night and day.
Just ask Pelosi and Reid.
I guess it wouldn't be so bad if we surrendered. After all, when we pulled out of Vietnam only 2-3 million people were killed AFTER WE LEFT.
159th USAF air recon 1993-99 8 months in Bosnia/7 months in Kosovo...that's for you, Fredrick Z.
