Chances are good that you will be in boot camp together. If your MOS is the same, especially if it's infantry, chances are you could wind up in Iraq, together. You may not wind up in the same unit together, but you could be in country together.

In my experience working with kids who enlist and knowing young Marines, here's what I've seen.
You CAN enlist with a "buddy". You'll ship the same date to boot camp and will likely be put in the same platoon. They can't guarantee both of you will complete boot at the same time, because one or both of you might get injured or sick during boot. From there you'd go to ITB or MCT... and they'll keep you together if possible. If you get that far together and have selected the same MOS, they'll send you off to training together, but where you eventually go with your training and with your final MOS is very individual. It's based on your individual skills and aptitudes and the needs of the Corps.
So... to answer your question.. it IS possible... but really not very likely that you'd actually end up together. I have seen it happen a couple times, but it's more common that you'll get separated along the way. FYI, for the Marines I know who got separated from their buddies, they were fine with it by the time it happened. They'd grown accustomed to the Corps and had earned the title... their fears about just being in the Corps were pretty much over with... and they both got jobs they liked and did well in.
Also, the Marine Corps is the smallest branch of our military. Most Marines cross paths with folks in their career field several times during their enlistment.

First of all it's not called Basic Training(Army) it's called Boot Camp (Marine Corps). You can go in on the buddy program and be assigned to the same platoon in Boot Camp As far as your mos(military occupations specialty...your job!!) is concerned it would be feasible that if you both have the same mos you would go to school together. After school though your odds would plummet as far as being sent to the same unit ...Although possible realistically not probable...Be careful and safe out there.... It's nice to see we still have some patriots out there..May God keep you safe!!! Semper Fi from a Desert Storm Vet 86-92........

Hi! My name is Rachel, I am 13 years old. In February of '07 my brother went to boot camp for the marines. yes you will go to basic training together. You more than likely will NOT get shipped off together. My brother also went in with a friend and now their not together anymore. My brother is in North Carolina waiting to get deployed next February. Also keep this in mind, on how this decision will change your life, and the lives of people that love you. I know it changed my brother's life, and it most certainly changed mine! Still everyday I think of him and pray for him. And I will do the same fo you and your friend. Hope this will help you in some sort of way.

the reason all your acquaintances inform you being a grunt sucks is with the help of the fact it does. maximum POG's are inspired and could inform you, "there is united statesand downs, strikes and gutters, blah blah blah..." however the reason Marine INFANTRY is the main suitable is with the help of the fact they save you annoyed your total 4 years. there isn't something wonderful, and have self assurance me, the preparation isn't precise-funds. that's the perception that the main suitable warriors are people who're continuously overwhelmed-down like combating canine. that's what makes Marine infantry the main suitable of the traditional forces. i might strongly recommend you bypass interior the Air stress. heavily.. you will get the perfect comparable comprehend and quite not want to kill your self (from what I hear from Air stress human beings).

To be same all through that most likely won't happen.
I left the same day and same MOS as 6 other girls. We where split in Plt's and I was transfered to another plt. While another girl was placed on Female Fitness Plt and was picked up on the next incoming plt when she finally passed her PT (she didn't score in the run, as I didn't the following week).
Might graduate together, might not. But being sent to same place and getting same MOS job location through the Marines won't happen.

i am glad that you want to join but dont believe recruiters. my brother and his two friends were promised to train and serve together but none of them were within 500 miles of each other.
another friend of mine just went in the marines a few weeks ago, she was told that after basic, she could start collage before being assigned. she just got the news that this isnt so in is furious with her recruiter.
pay no attention to what they say, it is all in the paper work.

You can certainly talk to a recruiter about that; but in my experience, once you're in, you are USGov't property and they will send each of you where they need you most. Now, if you were joining with your wife, you would stand a better chance of being kept together. But the best source of information would be you local recruiting office.

You could probably go through all the training stuff with him, but I don't think the army puts friends or relatives together while they are on duty. The army doesn't want you to put your friends and family before the mission.

It's a very good thing to do. Serve your country with your friend, that make you buddy forever. Later on you'll have lots of stories to tell your kids and family. Hey, Superman are not just the only heroes.
