As Sydney is a name of a person, we don´t change ist.
If your name is Sydney, we will call you Sydney too.
If you want to spell ist in German you spell it: "es" "ypsilon" "de" "en" "e" "ypsilon".
Please remember, that the German "e" is not prononced the same way like the English "e". The german "e" is pronounced like the french "é".

Sidney is a french name, derivative of Saint Denis.
(in french it would be pronounced Seed-nay).
There are different spellings and variants:
Cydney, Syd, Sid, Sidon, Sidony, Sidonio (spanish), Sydney, Sydny. Sydnee, Sydne.
It could also mean native of Sidon (ancient name of Beirut in Lebanon)
